Today we had a very important visitor to our course - Miguel Angel Jiminez!

The Ryder Cup player and promoter of spanish golf went out with 3 friends at 12.00. Possibly because it was cheaper then with midday madness price of only 30e!

One of his partners was a famous spanish bullfighter whose name I am afraid meant nothing to me. But I saw him birdie the par 3 11th, and heard that he birdied the par 5 9th also!

Mr Jiminez started off in sparkling form with an eagle 2 at the 1st hole. He was was very polite to the few spectators who realised he was on our course and signed autographs and posed for pictures whenever asked. 

He had his trademark cigar in his mouth at all times except when addressing a shot when he threw it to the ground.

Hopefully he will mention how good our course is when he meets up with Jack Nicklaus again and suggest that he tries out his own course!

This can only be good for the resort when such a famous golfer has played our course and from all accounts enjoyed the experience.

He has spent the last 3 or 4 days taking part in a golf school for children on Mar Menor Golf Resort.

My brother was his caddy for a few years on the European Tour including his first tour event win, the Belgian Open in 1992.

Coaching children, especially the underpriveledged, is a passion of his. He never gave balls away to the crowd when he came off the course but would save up old and new ones alongwith any other equipment going spare from the manufacturers vans and would cart them all off back home to give away to those children.

He is a very very nice and down to earth person.

He was also the 'touring pro' for the neighbouring resort Hacienda del Alamo from 2005 to around 2008/09 and was the course record holder there so knows the area well.HDA had to cut costs hence why the arrangement stopped.
