I have eventually got socamex to check out our excessive bills and they have checked and accepted that there is usage at our meter eventhough we have not been at the home for 7months.however their explanation is that there is either a leak or the water is being stolen and therefore advise turning off the supply at the meter and or contacting the civil guard.
I have been told by our managers that a special key is needed to turn the water off at the meter, I myself cannot recall seeing anything, does anyone know if this is the case if so what is like and are they obtainable? Millennium say that security has to shut meters off.
Mike

The water inside is all shut off and Yes there are two taps outside which I think do not get shut off from the inside valves, hence why shutting off the supply may be best.

When you shut of your valve inside the apartment, it also shuts off the tap at the front & back patios also.

Regards,

Hi Will
This is indeed a very interesting article as I too am having a running battle with the water company over excessive charges which again they put down to leakages, one being a constant drip on the Roca basin tap in the bathroom. Two questions if I may, one being where do you find the shut off valve inside the apartment and tow, does anyone know how to fix the Roca targa tap as when I open it is the Allen key and remove the top all I find is a sealed unit. I was looking for a simple washer to be the problem but am at a loss to work it out so any help appreciated.
Thanks
Gabe

 hi Gabe

whilst the bath tap may look like a sealed unit it`s not.  it does  come apart and there are a couple of rubber seals inside.  ive seen many taps that leak due to grains of sand inside.  if you take it apart, clean it then  put it together again with a little Vaseline it should cure the leak.

Thanks Phil that's reassuring as although I'm by no means a plumber I've never let a let a leaking tap beat me before!
It is actually the handbasin tap I'm talking about. So after I take off the top how do you get the plastic unit out from the rest of the tap assembly - does it require any further unscrewing or does it simply pull out? My leak seems to be coming out from around the square peg that fits into the top on/off handle. I had to leave again today but will be back as usual in a couple of weeks. However I could only turn water off at taps but even this doesn't seem to stop the constant drip so would love to know where the shut off valve is.
Thanks again for your help.
Gabe

Hi. Everyone.

DESPERATELY NEED HELP/ASSISTANCE.

can ANYBODY HELP?.  I was informed by my keyholder in Nov 2012 that my water meter had been disconnected.  Very strange I thought as all the bills are paid by direct debit, and I have checked my bank statements and all have been paid. July 2012, Oct 2012, and again in Jan 2013.  Even a new bill in January 2013, even though we have no meter.  We have not been in our apaprtment since Aug 2012, and as far as I am aware the water has been completely shut off at the apartment.

I have tried phoning Socamex, and asked for an English speaking representative, but was informed that no-one could speak English.  The person kept telling me to contact Mileniun.  I have also tried contacting the email address twice. dmas@socamex.com.es, but have not had any replies.  We desperately need to get our water meter re-connected.  Any help or information would be appreciated.

I look forward to hearing from someone with the right contacts.

Thanks.  Eian Gordon.

Hi Will and/or Phil

Sorry for bothering you guys again but I was hoping you could tell me where the shut-off valve for all of the water in the apartment can be found as for the life of me I can't find anything that seems to cut off the outside taps as well. I have a ground floor in the Jardins if this makes any difference.

Thanks

Gabe

 Gabe

i also have a ground floor flat and that is what i thought that the valves inside the property did not shut off the outside taps, contrary to what phil has posted, however as i am not at CDA until april i cannot confirm 100%. thats why i wanted to know if the meter can be shut off completely.

Gabe,

When I turn off the valve directly underneath my water heater, I am pretty sure it turns off the taps outside as well. I am also a Jardines ground floor. I will check out and let you know when I go over in a week or so.

Cheers,

Incar,
You wrote " contrary to what phil has posted", where have I posted anything that you disagree with? I have not made any comment about outside taps, only about dripping bath taps.???
