Paul, Not Smooth,
My apartment is empty. Water is billed quarterly, €17 ish. Electric is 2-monthly, €31 ish.
Some posters have reported unexpectedly high bills, so keep an eye on your direct debits.
Good luck.

I was asking as my last water bill for an empty apartment is €36 and electric is €105 which I thought was a bit high. I will check my bills when my friend brings them back to uk for me and query them if need be as i think the utility companies are a bit all over the place with their charging as you say. Thanks for all the info. Arlene.

My apologies Arlene,
My post should have been addressed to you and Paul. Just noticed that Paul is Not Smooth (if you know what I mean).
€105 for electric suggests a fair bit of consumption - certainly more than the fixed costs and IVA should amount to.

My electric bill for last 2 months was €105 and approx 42 % was not related to usage but as you say there was some back charges in there and it did include usage for about 6 weeks. The water bills does appear to be 3 monthly and my bill was 33€ of which only 7 euro was usage, The latest bill appears to have an additional charge this time round to do with the water being potable, this charge didnt appear on bill before so you need to go on the very last bills.
Paul
