Hello everyone,

I have had my flat since 2008 and, until last year, have never had any problems with the fuse boxes, inside or outside. Last year, some time after the servicing of the boiler and the air con, the fuse in the box located outside on the pathway blew. I was informed by maintenance that the fuse had worn out and this caused it to blow. I spent 50 Euros to have it replaced and thought that would be the end of it. I also had the air con and boiler checked again - no issues found there.

However, 2 months later it blew again and this time maintenance said 'too much was on at the same time in the apartment and it overloaded the fuse, so I should upgrade it and then it will be fine'. So, once again, I paid to have this done and a fuse which apparently was the highest capacity I could have was installed.

Yes, you guessed it, 3 months later it blew again! This time maintenance said I should also change the fuse inside the apartment - cost: 60 Euros. I have not done this yet because I am not confident that this is going to solve the problem. Other suggestions made by maintenance have not done so...   My questions regarding why: other tenants I know have not had this problem even though they use much more electricity than myself; that there must be a fault in the box outside so perhaps Endesa should be called in to find the fault and fix it, have fallen on deaf ears.

This problem is now driving me to distraction! Has anyone else had these issues? Does anyone know of anything I could do to make sure this does not happen again?

Hi,

Do not understand your reference to fuse in the flat, as the apartment should be fitted with circuit breaker trip switches

We found that if the boiler, air conditioning and tumble dryer in the apartment were all on at once with some lights then the fuse tripped and had to be reset. This is the advantage of a circuit breaker.

Maybe RSF skimped on later parts of the development. Suggest you take this up with AEA

Hi Michael 52,

Yes the fuse does trip but after it has done that twice it burns out the fuse in the contador outside.

AEA have said that it is nothing to do with them as it is not a community issue because no-one else is affected.

From what you have said I assume that your fuse outside has never burnt out then?

Do you think maybe there is a problem inside the flat?

Hi

I don't know if this is relevant but I think I recall seeing some postings on EOS about Endesa offering different levels of capacity.  You can contact Endesa and they will provide more capacity (potencia) and upgrade your main fuse.   I guess the tariffs are different.  A search for Endesa and Fuse should provide some useful information.

Steve

Thanks Steve. The maintenance guy upgraded the fuse in the contador for one that he said is the highest it can take - 73 when it was 54 before. But it still blew. I think the fuse in my brain is going to blow if I don't get this sorted, it's driving me bonkers!
