Is the water levels still increasing on La Isla? I understand water started to go in a few days ago?

HI Mark There was water coming out of one of the pipes for a few days (which we have seen a few times before) and the level is now at the top of the pipes - the liner is still exposed so don't think the level is any higher than it has been in the past year but certainly not at its lowest either! Hi Adrian Last week looked fuller but this week looks like it has dropped again. Still no idea what the solution is? Some telling me the lake will reduce in size, others telling me it will be topped up next week. I still can't understand why they don't just fill with sea water along with the rest of the lakes on the golf course.

Hi Mark Evaporation taking its toll. All I know is what I have read on the forum I'm afraid so whether its true or not is anyone's guess! Maybe Carmen could give us the latest news of whether there is a solution, what the solution is , when it will be put into action and whether the plan to reduce the size of the lake on La Isla has really been scrapped ( I hope it has) Cheers Adrian

I've just returned and confirm the level has dropped again by about a foot in the last 3 weeks
I believe the plan to reduce has been scapped as it would cost the banks too much. I understand the plan is to divide the lake to fill with salt water from a well and then use the reramining part for irriagtion. I for one am not happy if this is visible. If the oasis gets built or the Restuarant oppsite block 7/8/9 on the Al Kasar side then a dividing section would prevent the option of boats being used and I think any visible wall would look totally out of place. I understand the Restaurant is part of the plan scheduled for completion by the end of the year and that work was to start oct and would take 2 months

Water levels appear to be dropping to me as well. Very frustrating and more frustrating that you can never get a straight story regarding what is happening and when.

Hi Mark. I spoke to Carmen last week. She has been asked to visit la terrace la torre. They have the split system there. I am not happy about the split system, and hope to voice this at the AGM which is not a AGM? My thought would be to have salt water in the lake and a purification system built for the irrigation. Sorry I did not have chance to chat last week but I am sure we will see you soon. Regards Neil

Hi Neil/Mark
Personally, I'm glad to hear that the work to reduce the size of the lake has been scrapped.
However, the ongoing problem of low water levels leads me to agree with Mark in that using sea water may well be a viable solution & possibly cheaper in the longer run ?
Regarding a split system - I'm not sure how I feel about this but my initial reaction is that a wall would look awful. Is it possible for someone to post pictures from Terrazas de la Torre ?
p.s. - It was great to meet you & your family Mark. Watching young Luca give you the run around was hilarious !
regards
San

Hi Neil / San
Thanks for your replies.
Like San I would be keen to see some pics from La Torre. I guesss lakes on other resorts are filled due to having hotels but how does IRM expect to sell if they don't speculate to accumulate.
My personal thoughts are that the banks will end up with a lot of these apartments on their books for many years to come unless an open and transparant way forward is identified to give people confidence to buy. In my view there is a key stakeholder management piece required here to help build trust and confidences to move things forward and I really hope we get clear comms coming out from our presidents and administrator.

Here is an idea!!!!!
You want the lakes filled but are not prepared to pay the large amounts required.......
As far as I know de-sal water is "dead/serile water" (I wouldn't use it for my olives), it needs to be stored in a reservoir to build up the normal levels of natural bacteria; I belive the reservoir built above El Escobar is for this porpose.
Your lakes are ideal - you get the enviroment you desire whilst contributing to the local water managment system.
Needs investigation and discussion, but if it is feasible then at least you would be contributing, not just taking...

Hi elarado. The water to fill the lake will probably be changed to this low grade water. They are considering having a clean section (20%) and the rest low grade. The small section would be for irrigation. A suggestion of different plant life in the water could generate oxygen in the water and help clean up the water. So yes this is being considered. Neil

Hello to all on La Isla, this being my first post.
Has anyone ever seen the lake full? The possibility occurs to me that there may be a split in the liner and that the 'normal' level is as high as it will go.
Regards,
Rog

Hi ya, Yes a few years ago when we first took up our apartment the lake has been full for only one season ( if that). It may need a bit of attention but. Do not believe a major split is present. Cheers Neil

Does anyone have any information regarding the lake and the proposed plan to resolve the issue we all face? I have been informed despite receiving assurances to the contrary that they still plan to build this horrendous dam/eyesore and I would like to know other owners thoughts.
