Hi Joan,

Hope you don't mind I thought I would start a new thread about the way we receive notifcations/info from the administrators in case people didn't pick on the other thread because of the title.

I am fully in agreement with you about asking for notices by email.  As you know we have 2 properties and each administrator does things differently.  Focus told us that by law they have to post out the calling of the meeting, but if we ask for it they will send it by email as well and I think they are correct.

However the administrators in our other community say they will send them by email.  The only problem with that was that this year we did not get ours, despite asking for it several times!!! When I wrote to them to complain they simply said sorry we had a computer problem and they didn't all get sent. My personal opinion is that they didn't send it because we have problems in the community and last year when they called an EGM and didn't want to notify the parties who were involved in the dispute (which involves the admin & president) I pointed out that by law everyone had be sent the information, so they were "paying me back".  But the point is you are not guaranteed to get the email either if they make a mistake.

There a couple of things I think we could do though

1. Suggest to the administrator that they email just one of us and we can then post the info on this webite. If you are a registered member you then get an email from "eyeonspain" automatically.

2. Try and set the date each year at the AGM, so everyone has a whole year to ensure they can either appoint a proxy or attend the meeting.

3. Check the legality of changing the statutes the community adopted on inception to add that correspondence can be sent out by email once the owner notifies the administrators and if this is legally acceptable see if we can have an EGM and arrange to change the statute to give the owners the choice.

I hope other people will put their comments forward too, because this is one of the reasons I think this site is such a good idea.

Yvonne
