Fridge Freezers

Hi Folks,

Our F/F broke when out at Easter and we need to replace it, does anyone know the best place to look for a new one. Had a look online at Euronics and Media Mart but they seem to be really expensive.

We bought ours in Murcia in the big complex, I think it was Thader, just across from Ikea and next to the big supermarket. It was a while ago, but we got a good deal. Not sure if they charge to deliver, as ours was a big order so got a discount on everything plus free delivery. Not sure if they're online but will have a look and get back to you.

We arrived to find our F /F would not work, it is 7 years old and an original Teka from Polaris. We went into the shop in Al Kazar rather sceptically and they seemed to match internet prices.
We shot down to Euronics in Campasol, much dearer and looked on the internet.
Back to Paco Molina in Al Kazar by 11am and it was delivered at 4pm same day and the old one taken away.

We were browsing at fridges etc. in the furniture shop at Al Kazar on the day we completed our purchase and were flying home that evening. They offered us what seemed a good deal on fridge/freezer, washing machine and dischwasher. When we asked them about delivery times they said 20 minutes! We purchased and 20 minutes later they were installing it in our apartment. Excellent service. We have since been back and checked prices in other stores and it seems we got a fairly competitive price, so we would recommend them.

We had the same thing our Teka just stopped working! We purchaed our new one last Friday from Euronics bought & delivered same day fab service as we needed it! We have bought a couple of items from them in the last year no problems at all think it is worth paying a bit extra but our fridge freezer was 495euros inc free delivery & they dispose of old one, so didnt think that was too bad!

We were also told that if you turn your fridge freezer on/off regularly it can half the lifetime of it as they are meant to be left on permanently.

Our Teka was about seven years ol and a couple of years ago some workmen went in to do some work, turned the power on but did not turn it off when they left. We leave the fridge and freezer doors open when we leave with power off, the result was fridge freezer on for a couple of months with doors open!!!!! When we arrived we had the biggest block of ice you have ever seen, took over a day to defrost outside on the patio in the sun. Don't think it did much for the lifespan of the unit.

Good restaurant, Casa del Nono on road from Isla Plana to Azohia, one of the best 12 euro del dia have had so far.

I think there are issues with TEKA but probably not helped by the periodic use that the equipment gets with holiday home owners. I have a TEKA dishwasher, had it 5 years but only used whenwe are out there. The motor went on it last October and James the Electrician is trying to source a second hand motor because the cost of a new one is way too much. We also have a TEKA fridge freezer, nice piece of kit. Had a problem with it when it was new but since then all OK. We do leave it on between visits because freezers do not responde well to stop start use. Also great to arrive to a cold beer and nice glass of white wine.

Would I buy TEKA again, no chance and yes Euronics are good to deal with. JF

Fingers crossed, 6 years of use being switched on and off 7x a year and it's still working, my dishwasher on the other hand was having none of it, packed up after the first summer and no matter how hard i tried I just could not get it to work  again .............. she just has a glass of wine now whilst i do the washing up 

Thanks for everyones comments, websits and advice. Switching them off and on seems to be the problem. Have noticed that some makes/models now have a vacation option on them which might be useful but not sure if I'd like to leave my electric on for any length of time.
