I have been advised that property owners are offering one free 10 euro token to each of their tentals but surely that is not economical. If the average number of rental weeks is 10 per year then you are giving away 100 euros. Or are you facturing the cost into your tental charge. We had a meterinstalled recently and would welcome your comments. Thanks. Jan

ÍSorry for delay. Just got back from the Condado Club. The company is Ecotech.they have an office in the Al Kazar. Tele No 0034 665350 056. You can have a meter to just cover your aircon or all the electricity. We chose the all inclusive.I think it cost 200 euro and that included about 30 tokens plus over ride ones for your own use. You still get you electricity bill. But if you intend to rent out this is a very good idea. Your property manager keeps the tokens collects the payment and supplies the tokens to your clients. Keeping the money for you or banking it into your account, some people offer the first 10 euro token free but over a year thats a big financial loss and is cutting out your bottom line. We offer the first for 5 euro. People are happy with that as they are still geting the first one for half price. If you are on Condado now then pm me if you want to have a look we are her for two weeks jan

Hi Jan,
Thanks for an informative post, we are new owners and so this is very helpful.
One question h I have is ow do you get the tokes renewed, new cash applied to them after they have been used ?
Do go back to Ecotech or do you get some device for adding credit back on ?
Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan sorry for another late reply. I must stop these late nights they are stopping me getting my beauty sleep. Once the tokens have been used up either your key holder or your self go to eco tech office and they recharge them. As there is no money exchanged i am presuming this is done for free but its best to check. If you are renting. Your client pays your key holder. As i said in my other reply the key holder then either sends the cash to you or pay you when you are here. You will get your electricity bill in the normal way, jan

I had a meter fitted, again to cover both aircon and other electric. Mine was from a different company. I was told you keep the used tokens/cards and they can be recharged by the company if you contact them but at a cost of I think 1 euro each so probably a similar situation.
I think there is no need to offer any free tokens, particularly as they will only cover part of your bill ie usage not the charges and taxes. They serve as a great deterrent tho anyone letting the aircon run away with itself though.....

Hi Dionne.
On reflection I believe you r correct, there should be no free tokens. Had an interesting conversation with an owner here last night. Was told the free token is a scam and that some property managers are pocketing the money. As the person would not name anyone it could be yet another urban myth. But no freebies would solve the problem
