I am hoping to move to Spain in the near future, but the one thing that I have still yet to sort out is my repeat medications.

I'm not too sure how one would go about obtaining the appropriate medication when required as i am an asthmatic and will therefore need specific inhalers.

Is there anyone who has emigrated to Spain who has the same needs? If so i would be grateful if you could share with me how the process of getting medications works?

With thanks in anticipation.

Debbie.

I get repeat prescriptions for my high blood pressure medications by going to a local doctor, with my UK repeat prescription form, and asking for a spanish prescription. As a rule the cost of the medications are cheeper than the UK.

Thank you for that information - very useful.

Is it easy enough to register with a Spanish doctor? What paperwork (if any) do you have to take with you?

With thanks

Debbie

Documentation needs vary depending on your age and your residential status.

I just show my E111 card when I go to the health centre to ask for an appointment.

In Fortuna there are several Doctors, based at the health centre, some of whom speak English. You do not have to register like you do in the UK. But you do have to be prepared to wait for up to two hours even though you are given a specific appointment time!
