Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has used Torfx for transferring money and if so would you recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Jaykay

Never used Torfx  or HIFx personally, been using transferwise for about a year , they have an app so ne need to phone you can pay by debit card through the app, they charge very little and the exchange rate is very close to bank of England rates .

Back by Richard Branson,  I like it because is easy and very quick I can do a transfer in less than 30 seconds .

Hope this helps.

Richard

Hi Jaykay

I've just used TorFX to move my money ready for completion. I got what I thought was a competitive rate, plus for the large amounts you deal with an allocated agent who I found to be very helpful. The actual move was quick with euros in my Sabadell account early next day.

One tip for moving smaller amounts is to have either a Halifax Clarity cc, or a Nationwide Flex plus a/c. Both of these allow for free cash withdrawals from foreign ATM, so you just go to your Spanish bank draw the cash using those cards, then pay straight into your Spanish a/c. That way you get practically the wholesale rates.  On the Halifax card just pay off what you took out on the same day and no interest charged.

Hope that helps

Jim.

I've tried a number of currency transfer options:

Foreign Currency Direct - Recommended by La Vida and also by the UK press such as the Telegraph. Found their customer vetting process so onerous that I never actually managed to get a transfer done!

MoneyCorp - Also recommended in the UK press. Good rate via telephone deals for very large transactions but exchange rate is poor when booked via the internet for smaller amounts i.e. <10k€ currently around 1.36.

Transferwise - looked good but opted for Azimo as they had all the same features and slightly better rates (currently 1.37885)

Azimo - I use these all the time now to transfer money to my Spanish bank account. They have a web site and a mobile app. Best exchange rates I can find (currently 1.38087). Only charge £1 per transaction.

Halifax Clarity Credit Card - Good exchange rates (currently 1.376199), 0% charge on cash withdrawals, up to 56 days interest free for purchases.

Hi Jaykay

I have seen the various posts here regarding using a for exc company for your transfers.

I have used a company called GCEN for the last four years, due to thier rates always being better than Moneycorp, HIFX etc, no commissions, extremely easy to use, fast transfers and a personal account manager dedictated to you.

If you would like more details email me at kevin@slric.com and I can put you through to an account manager who will deal with all your requirements.

Best Regards

Kevin
