Spanish bank accounts

We are after some advice.  We have been owners on Condado for many years now.  Originally when we completed our Spanish bank account was with Banco Halifax. However due to changes within the banking system, it has been changed many times due to no choice of our own.  Our latest provider is Sabadell. 

The only thing we have going through our account is our community fees, insurance, electricity and water payments.  However we have just received our statement for the last year and have been charged 150 euro for the privilege.  This does include our non residence certificates but still seems very expensive. We originally signed up for a fee of 25 euro a year.  

Has anyone else had a similar experience or managed to find an alternative? 

Yes, mine is the same. Banking is not free in Spain, pretty much the same in any other bank in Spain.

We are using CatalunyaCaixa - all international and national transfers included for 24 Euro per year.

Internet banking also included for no additional fees...

Money transfer from Germany visible in our Spanish Account after one workday...

Pop in to Sababell in the port and speak to Fiona. Very helpful. Sababell is the first building on the right after the roundabout as you enter the port  opposite Lidls. 

I know we pay approx 50 euros per person for non residents tax per year, so if there are two of you take out 100 euros for this tax and the bank charges don't look that bad.

I'm on Terrazas De La Torre and like Tinkerbell originally signed up with Halifax and have now been transferred to Banco Sabadell. We are now being charged 33 Euros / qtr for account and debit cards maintenance plus the non-residence certs. I intend to go and have a chat next time we're over and see if we can get these down. I'm also looking for any other recommendations for banks in the area which I might consider switching to.

On the plus side their online banking is in english and pretty decent.
