Hi folks,

Has anyone started to think about furnishings?

Any hardened property buyers out there that have any tips on whether to buy here in the uk and then ship or to buy in spain etc would be a help.

Any websites that help with furnishings would be good too.

Hi,

We checked out a company called Villapac which has showrooms in Bolton, Milton Keynes and also in Spain.  We liked the furniture but the price for the pack was more than we expected.  We aren't sure if we were unrealistic or not in our expectations but we have decided to check out a couple of places when we next go to Spain before we make any decisions.  There are a few companies I have found on the internet which are quite local to La Tercia, Furniture4Spain, Muebles and DFS (I don't know if it's connected to the DFS over here or not).

Val

We also went to Villapac in Bolton. I agree that the funiture was lovely too, but the price just didn't seem to match. A friend said that all the furniture shops are very helpful in Spain and most will deliver & assemble.  I think we will be taking a trip to Ikea in Murcia.  All bits and bobs (pans etc) you can buy from the big hypermarkets like carrefour.

Anyone got a feel on value of these furniture packs, where absolutely everything needed is included (compared to buying individual items)? Guess it's practically impossible to work out, but I wouldn't mind hunting down the best bargains if it was cheaper (and not being constrained to one supplier). Any thoughts?

The funrniture packs we lokked at were approx £10k.  They included all soft furnishings, furniture and bits and bobs for kitchen etc.  However, this price didn't include white goods such as washer, fridge, tv etc.  I am sure it is going to be much cheaper to buy individually.  There are loads of furniture stores in the area, an IKEA at Murcia and all the big hypermarkets sell pots and pans etc.  I know it is less hassle buying a pack but it seems much more expensive.

Just need some comfy shoes for a big shopping trip.

We are moving permanently and not taking any large items of furniture. The problem with buying individually for us would be moving into an empty villa.  We would have to go over before the move and buy everything and arrange delivery dates for when we had completed, and then when we move book in a hotel until at least the basics had arrived.  I'm not sure how we are going to do it as yet.  We are going to check a few places out when we go in November, and maybe order the essential furniture items from one of those places and then do the rest ourselves when we move over.

It is probably going to be a major hassle buying indivudally but because we are not moving there immediately it makes more sense for us.  I wonder if we have the keys for next Christmas?  Probably no furniture lol but would be nice to spend next Christmas there.

It would be fantastic to be over there for next Christmas.  I e mailed Elena and she said our villa was on time for next September, but friends of ours who are also purchasing there and have the same completion date as us, were over there last week and our agent said it would be more like December/January.  We will just have to wait and see.
