From talking to OVP today, and the fact that July has been removed off their booking screens, I am concerned that their rental deal is both expensive, and from what I can gather from other forums, is pretty unsuccessful - let alone the fact that we will NEVER get to the point of them actually being ready to rent it !!!!

I need income now on this property, has anyone any suggestions for rental / management companies, that are more successful and less expensive than the OVP one ?

What do you do ?

Regards

Nigie

Hi Nigie

There are lots of companies that will list your rental property for free and just take a small commission when they do rent the property out. We let our properties here in Spain (albeit in a different area) quite successfully this way in fact we are fully booked up on all of them this year till October!! Not as pricey as OV either!!. Its easiest just to do a blanket search (google) for apartments to rent in Spain and you will get plenty of results and you can of course list with many sites. Our most successful lets are through www.Individualspain.com (they produce a very nice holiday magazine too) but they are quite choosy about what they list ton heir books and it doesnt sound as though yours is quite ready yet?  Its propbably a bit different for us as we live on site however, I dont think many people do so its worth a try and cut ties with OVP as soon as possible!! They talk the talk but dont walk the walk....  I have spoken to many about the lack of 'guaranteed' rental and instead of all the heartache would recommend you try it independantly and take control.

PS... CLICKING ON THE LINK TO INDIVIDUAL SPAIN DOESNT WORK THROUGH THIS FORUM SO YOU WILL NEED TO TYPE IT IN TO YOUR BROWSER

Best of luck Nigie

Regards

Karen

Thanks Karen for replying. That is exactly what I intend to do. My thoughts are, if I use web sites to advertise the property for bookings, then I need either a management company or a local couple who will manage the keys/cleaning etc.. etc... for me. There are a few management companies around that area, but I would also like to find some individual local residents who will do it and I pay them instead.

What is your take on the management side ? company or local English residents ? I will mak another posting on here just to see if there is anyone on this forum that knows someone or can recommend me.

Thanks

Nigel

Hi Nigel

I think there are plenty of Brits out there who would be more than happy to hold keys and take care of your handovers etc. I may be speaking out of turn but if Wyn is still conducting the OVP inspection visits I seem to remember that his wife dabbled in the property management side of things? I may have got this wrong but iys worth a try. I would try and avoid the local management companies. A retired English couple would probably be more reliable and efficient. There are some horror stories about rental management but if you can get someone you can trust its worth giving it a try?

All the very best

Karen

Thanks Karen.

Hopefully my later posting will start the ball rolling on this one.

Otherwise when I go out there I will ask around and maybe knock on a few doors.

Cheers

Nigel
