NB; JET 2 & RYANAIR FLIGHTS OUT OF SAN JAVIER (MURCIA, CB)

This is my first post.  Have enjoyed most of the threads up to now but have felt there has been a lot of negativity lately about everything relating to Portofino, MRI etc. 

My family and I were in Almerimar a couple of weeks ago and saw the show flat.  I thought it was absolutely gorgeous.  Love the kitchen which has our County colours (maroon and white) on same - sorry - just being selfish on that score....loved the marble floor.  We have bought a 2 bed in Block 5 and it will be slightly bigger than the show flat with the kitchen/utility separate from the living/dining - ooh I can't wait.  We will have our own pad in the sun yet.

On MRI - have to say we have had absolutely no problem with them on any of our dealings to date.  I get regular phone calls from Marbella to see if I have any questions - she phones me - I don't phone her.  We rented through MRI last year and was very impressed with their professionalism and efficiency on that score.  I know others have had problems but I am just stating what my experience has been.

We will be going through MRI on the rental of the apartment for when we ourselves are not using it.  The procedure has changed now and all bookings will be done via internet into the Marbella office.  Spoke to a nice gent from MRI last week called Barrie and he gave me the lowdown on how it's going to work.  We don't have to sign up with MRI to rent it but I have to say that it sounds a lot easier than us trying to do it ourselves from Ireland.  That's just my personal opinion.

There is no doubt that Almerimar is a gorgeous place and will probably be like Porta Banús was 10 or 15 years ago.  We have to give it a chance to grow.   It's likely that the first year will give us about 10-15 weeks summer rental if we're lucky....we just have to hang in there....personally I think it's worth it.

Can't wait for our first "residents" party.......problem is I'll probably want to move out there altogether !!!  Ah well, they do insurance in Spain too.

How very refreshing to have someone express a positive view of Almerimar and PF in particular.
The doom merchants, it seems to me, are generally those who are looking to make money in the short term, for my part this is a long term investment with a view to moving over eventually.

I have to say I have not had very much contact from MRI but that I have had as been positive and helpful.

Really looking forward to next year and getting the keys to our very own place in Spain.

Well just back from Almeria myself and got the chance to view the showhouse as well the place was fantastic really great. I had been in the area back last year and reserved off plan with no showhouse so it was really great to see the flat and get the feel for the space within it.

MRI is who we had purchased off and to date they have been grand what i do know is that they are marketing the portovino development with First Choice so hope all goes well with this and we can let them rent it for us. Has anyone explored companies who do the furnture packages for the flats.

On the furniture....last year when we were over in Almerimar we spoke with a really helpful lady in "Design by Jarvis" down on the marine...sorry I just can't remember her name...she's English and very very helpful.   She brought us up to Alta Entinas and showed us a show flat with a sample of their furniture package in it...it was lovely.  As it happens now we won't be needing to go ahead with furniture cos our apartment is actually one of the selected fully furnished ones in Block 5.

They have a website so if you "google" design by jarvis you should be able to get them.    They are located just beside McGowan's pub on the marina if you are over there and want to find them.

                               im glad to be reading peoples good posts for a change.
                               there was a lot of depressing posts prior to hols.

Sorry no photos, you will just have to take our word for it i am afraid. I actually popped into the Design by Jarvis while i was in Almerimar and spoke to the English Lady I have her business card at home, many thanks she did indicated she would be half the price of MRI so that was good news.I give her my details and she said in January she may have some offers on and would email them to me. As soon as i recieve them i will make a posting.

            ive just been looking at desigh by jarvis web sight they seem to be resonably priced
            i dont think it would be to hard to beat mri with the prices they charge for furniture.
            couldnt you just nip back and take some photos.

Well when we were over I brought my camera to take pictures and left it in the hotel room when we went to see the show flat.  Smart or what?

We may be going over again at the end of October but I have one of those "old" cameras...a brilliant Pentax but it seems to be laughed at quite a lot, as am I, when the zoom lens is going in and out....it seems to make rather a loud noise which, if you happen to now use a digital camera, seemingly is hilarious!!!  I found this out when I produced it in church when my son made his communion last May...all the "trendy" digital camera operators were looking around to see what the noise was or where it was coming from....I can take some photos but won't be able to up-load them (or is that what you call it)....what can I say...I dont really like modern technology.....if however things change in the meantime I may ask my darling 12 year old to take some photos with her d.c. and I will then get her also to "up-load" them....I'll get the hang of this yet.....I'll let you know if and when it happens.....

god i havnt seen a pentax for a few years,but i know what you mean i usually let my 6 year old
up load for my i cant do anything to technical, i do try but it never goes quite right for me.

I know that by saying I have a Pentax camera I make myself sound very old but I am actually really really young !!
