Hi all.

On the furniture front - the furniture package market seems to be less well developed in the Costa Blanca/Calida than in the Costa del Sol. Most of the web sites seem to be centred around Malaga/Marbella. And they seem expensive and old fashioned. The Polaris World Style warehouse in the industrial estate on the other side of the dual carriageway from the development has some nice stuff and a range of prices. There is also a good store on the main street in Los Alcazares which has a catalogue - again with some good prices - can't remember the name - but its near where the market is held. There is also a modern store just inside the boundary of Torre Pacheco on the Los Alcazares - its worth a look. Murcia has a reasonable priced store called Domus near the train station as well as some much more expensive but very stylish stores in the centre. There's always El Corte Ingles. A friend who has a place in Torrevieja tells us that there's lots of furniture and electrical places there.

For electricals, everyone seems to recommend Carrefour.

Hi, Chris & Jim from No. 41. Our house won't be ready until the end of January but we're starting to think about furniture etc. We'd really appreciate it if you'd let us know about where you find the best places to buy from as I know that you're almost ready to complete. I know it sounds cheeky but you'll have gone through all the purchasing by the time we're ready. We've recently been on holiday to the Costa Del Sol and you're right there are lots of furniture stores out there. We also had a look in Carrefour and it is really good for electricals. Do you know where the nearest one to our development is? We fancy furnishing our house very similar to the show home as that looked very smart and have even toyed with the idea of driving furniture over from the UK although thinking about it it would probably be too complicated.

Good luck with the move.

Hola, Chris & Jim,

There's a few other places I've just thought about - there's the IKEA (of course) and a Zara Home in Murcia and a DFS store in San Javier (I'm told its the same DFS as at home - you can see it from the motorway) and there's a modern furniture store in the Dos Mares shopping mall near San Javier, although the selection is limited. There's also an inexpensive artwork shop there with a large selection.

There are Carrefour Hipermercados in both Cartagena and Murcia (try www.carrefour.es if your spanish is up to the task). The showhouse was furnished by an interior designer who has a small shop in the Los Narejos shopping square across from the EuroMarina offices. You can see other examples of his work for Taray at http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-10432721.rsp?pa_n=2&tr_t=buy&chnl=overseas.  Also try website www.mueblesdirect.com who have a store on the road between Los Alcazares and Torre Pacheco near the Polaris World Mar Menor Resort.

We also thought about transporting from the UK, but the cost was prohibitively expensive from Scotland. Also we will probably end up buying a lot of things in IKEA and in comparing prices on the downloaded catalogue(at www.ikea.es) I reckon that Spanish IKEA is on average 6% cheaper than in UK. Also if a fault develops with something you have brought from UK, how do you take advantage of warranties?

Hope this helps!

Hi Everyone.

We have been looking at furniture on a lot of sites but to organise it all for moving in time feels a bit daunting, so we are back to looking at furniture packs, has anyone got any companies that they could recommend here or in Spain. Thanks Pete & Sue (No 21)
