Hi there Carol

I am so jealous that your bathroom can take a shower cubicle as well.  I wish there were more room in mine.  Actually a window in there would be nice!   As I have had no reason to look for one I can't help with where to buy one.  i am not sure if you have had a gate fitted by Gary but I feel he would be a useful contact.  He is a builder by trade so he may even be able to do this for you.  If he cant I am sure he would be able to put you in conatct with someone .  I am still looking for a flight for November and failing that I will be there some time in December.  If you haven't sorted one out by then I will certainly look around while I am out there.

The only other thing I would say is that the retail park at Ikea is now almost finished and there are some huge superstores for home and garden.  I have not been into them but I would not be suprised if they dont do that sort of thing.  Failing that I found this list of bathroom suppliers which may be of use.  I have no idea what they are like but they are only 15 minutes away.

I realise now that you have a shower basin only and you are wanting a cubicle. I have seen a couple of apartments that have a full sized bath and still have room to install a cubicle.  I guess your insnt that one.

I live in West Yorkshire and usually fly from Leeds or Manchester.  Although to be honest will drive anywhere if the flight price is decent and I can get enough time off work.  have used bmibaby many times. I also use http://www.skyscanner.net/   they search all the budget airlines and cut out quite a bit of searching.  the prices initially look slightly more but they do include tax which makes it easier I think.  I usually end up going each direction with different airlines as the cheapest out is not always the cheapest back.

As for Wigan.  ahh well.  What can I say. Maybe you will do as well as you did against Blackburn!!

Take care

Wayne

Hi everyone

Just another contribution about flights.  I live in Coventry and can get a flight out for as little as 3.59 plus taxes etc.  The corresponding flight back is 12.99 plus charges.  When I fly out in 2 weeks time, it will have cost me about 80.00, but in February, as I booked the flights early, it is only 65.00.  This is with Thomsonfly from Coventry airport.  I suppose I could get cheaper if I was prepared to use another airport, but Coventry's so handy for me.

Does anyone have the number for Phil, who some of you may know? He's the driver who picked us up from the airport when we were over in May.  He gave me his card, but as he hasn't responded to a text I sent, I wonder if his number has changed.  Alternatively, do any of you know of someone who might be able to offer his services for a couple of days to take me and my sister to look at furniture etc?

I'm going to contact Garry in the next couple of days, and I think he'll be a useful man to know in the future when I might want the odd job done around the apartment.  I can't even put a picture hook up without demolishing half a wall!!   Incidentally, I too have a bath in a windowless bathroom, and as I know there are no lights yet, I shall be packing candles for my forthcoming trip.

Regards to all

Fliss

I had Phils number I will have a search over the next few days.  As for lights when you first arrive I know what a pain it is.  I took a cheap lamp and an adapter.  It made the first day easier.  I also spoke to the builder at the signing and he came and put some emergency lighting connectors in all the rooms.

Thanks for that Wayne.  I've heard in the last half hour that Phil's back in the UK, but have the number for Carl, who is now the driver, so have sent off a long text to him.  If anyone wants his number, I'll pass it on.  Thanks for the tip about the lamp.  Sounds like a good idea; I already have my adapter ready to pack.  Next task is to text Garry about changing the locks.

Regards

Fliss

When do you get there?  I seem to think you are there in November.  I am only there a day or so.  I wont have time to drive you about but I am sure I will be able to change your lock if needed.  It is easy enough to get a new one at the ferretaria.

Hi Wayne

Thank you so much; that's really kind of you.  We're arriving on Monday 30th and leaving Sat 4 Nov.  The free days we will have are the Wed, which is the public holiday, then I hope we'll be able to spend the Friday and Saturday doing the things we need to do, like the shopping and the locks etc.  I have heard from Gary, who said he'd be available and to ring him when we arrive, so if it's not convenient for you at those times, please don't worry.  It would be lovely to meet and say 'hello' face to face though.  I've also heard back from Carl, who will be picking us up at the airport anyway, so I think he'll be able to help with the driving around.  Thank you again; I look forward to having you as a neighbour.

Hi Fkiss

Its  getting close for you now isn,t it and you seem to be sorting things out very well and although there.s not many of us on this site as yet everyone seems friendly and willing to help each other out. You will just miss our son and friends as they only arrive on sun 5th I.ve told him they could be the only ones in the building but they are not bothered just glad of the break.Good luck and we hope everything goes smoothly for you but i.m sure it will let us know how you get on.

Hi Carol and Ken

What a shame that I'll miss seeing your son,  it would have been nice to have someone else in the building, as we'll probably be the only ones there as well!  It is getting close now and I'm quite excited.  I do feel as though things are moving at last and if I can manage to order some furniture while I'm there, I'll be really pleased.  I do agree that we're going to be a nice friendly community and it's so comforting to know there are other people around for mutual support in what will be for me at least a very new and different environment.

Thanks for the good wishes, and I'll be in touch soon.

Regards

Fliss

Thank you very much Wayne; I shall certainly call on you or your mate if I need to.  I hope we'll get a chance to meet anyway sometime on the Friday or Saturday.  We don't fly back till 10 on Saturday night.

Hi Tom

Pleased you had a good time.  I guess other than put a washer in your bathroom you are stuck unless you can do something with that large hall!  As for launderettes.  There are at least three in Almoradi.  This is a rather long link and i hope it works.

I will look for the address of the one i think is nearer the apartment over the weekend and let you know if I find it.

Regards

Wayne
