Hi again folks. Thanks to you we've hopefully not left it too late to follow your leads and put some of your ideas into practice: washine machine up on roof, upgrading water heater, putting fitted wardrobe in 2nd bedroom and possibly making better use of cupboard under stairs. Unfortunately we literally only have this weekend to make our decision on the understairs as they were going to build up the wall on Monday. This is where I need help of someone who has been out there and seen the available space under the stairs of the first floor apartments. Grupo are giving us the option of either tiling the space and leaving it empty or putting in a fitted unit. What we are wondering is whether this space is big enough to warrant just having a door put on the space in order to store junk, possibly hang coats or even store folding bikes, or is it just too small for this and would be better to let them put in a unit? Any help anyone has would be appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation.

Sorry, I'm unsure about how much room there is under the stairs but my vague recollection is that there might be as much as 600mm depth under the stairs. I will ask she who must be obeyed, (linda) and (Sis, she who must also be obeyed), Lynne this afternoon if they remember. Women do don't they, we were planning to meet up around 3pm. Stuart.

Only just seen this thread, but with regard to your question of room under the stairs there is quite a bit of space if you take the wall down. We instructed the builders to do this some time ago on our apartment, no. 36, and beleive me it transforms the kitchen, making it brighter and more airy, plus giving you ample more worktop and cupboard space. Putting the wasing machine upstairs in the solarium lobby also gives you more space in the kitchen. Remember if you do go for installing more cupboards under the stairs get more plug sockets located there too. The cost is quite reasonable.

Many thanks for that. Our problem was that we only had the weekend to make up our minds so we went for it. We went the whole hog and asked for the boiler upgrade, the extra cupboard under the stairs with electric point, washing machine onto solarium and fitted wardrobe in 2nd bedroom. (The SKI Club is a wonderful organisation !) Please please - nobody tell me of any more improvements I can't possibly live without! LOL!!
Thanks again for help. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone after March.
