Thanks for the information. This is most useful and has inspired me to do my own return.
This is my first year to pay tax and I've just been reading up. Help please.
I've just read that:
"
For the Impuesto sobre el Patrimonio wealth tax and Impuesto sobre la Renta imputed income tax, the procedure is now considerably easier if you are a non-resident owner of one property only. You have to complete a Form 214 where you can declare both wealth tax and imputed income tax as well as income tax for non-residents."
So form 214 is the way to go.
John - do you have the link for obtaining this on-line please ?
/edit/ I found
this one. Which is just a blank form with a bar code.
/edit 2/ and this
official source
So for someone like myself who is not renting out, these two taxes should be easy to compute.
The wealth for me is basically the value of apartmentless mortgage plus bank current account (highest of last quarter average or 31Dec balance) plus value of
car, boats and other expensive stuff if I had any.
I read that the apartment value is the higher of:-
a.the officially registered Valor Catastral (often known as the ‘Town Hall’ value)
b.the value taken into account for any other tax purposes
c.the price in the purchase agreement – the Escritura
It's not clear how to find a) or b). Does anyone know?
Wealth tax (
Impuesto sobre el Patrimonio) appears to be
0.20% up to a wealth of 167,129 Euros. so it does not amount to much.
Impuesto sobre la Renta imputed income tax,
Tax base: 2% of the cadastral value of the property (found on the IBI receipt), or 1.1% if the cadastral value has been revised since 1st January 1994. Tax rate: 24% (25% for 2006 and before)
Well no sign of an IBI for some time so based on Jeff's posting I need the Escitura value.
Does anyone know where to find this. Should my purchasing solicitor have supplied it?
I too noted that "
If you didn't own the property for the entire year or if it was rented for part of the year, then you would prorate the amount accordingly."
Does anyone know what the current rates for imputer income tax for this district can be located.
A point of interest :-
"One of the first decisions I would take is to
eliminate the wealth tax and to develop mechanisms to compensate regional governments for lost revenue,”he said.

Spain’s Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said Tuesday Spain's budget surplus for this year may exceed the 1.8 percent of Gross Domestic Product it reached in 2006."
