Can anyone recommend a reasonable hotel for an overnight trip to Seville, and is the best route via Jerez de la Fonterra

Hi Michael - Merry Christmas to you!  And to all others in DV and on EOS, by the way!

Not sure about a hotel, but the route to Seville is really easy and takes just under a couple of hours.  You just take the E15-AP7 towards Algeciras/Cadiz, then merge onto the A381 towards Los Barrios/Jerez and then after about 90 kms or just under, you take the E5/A4-AP4 towards Seville and just stay on the AP4 until you see the relevant signs into the centre of Seville.  We've done it on a few occasions and it was fine (although be careful not to miss the exit onto the A381 on the way back to Manilva, otherwise you end up having to take the "scenic route" around the coast!!!

If in doubt, do a google earth route search and it will show you the route.

All the best for 2008!!

Michael,

I went to Seville Nov. 2006 and stayed at at Hotel Simon right in the centre, its a very good location.

I used sat nav to get me to the right street and you have to ask for the street barriers to be lowered, You can park outside the hotel if you arrange it with them or use car parks nearby 5 mins walk, drop cases first.

Cost was 90 euros , £61 inc breakfast for 2, just checked my Visa. Hotels in Seville seem to be more expensive than Granada where I paid 54 euros plus 10 to park for 2 inc. breakfast.

As Pitby says go via Los Barrios/Jerez longer but good roads and about 2 hours, only take what appears to be the shorter route across the mountains if you want a 4.5 hour drive in mist. I have made this mistake twice on the way back very scenic and twisty but a real pig in the mist and rain.
