Yes, I know it's more than a year away. Buying a property abroad is new terrority for us -  I am starting to get jittery. So, I was wondering  what we need to obtain before acceepting our Phase 2 2/2 apartment.

1. NIE number

2. Building licence in place.

3. Snagging check.

4. Mortgage - how/where?

5. Furniture

I am sure I have missed a few things - any advice from you experience property buyers would be appreciated.

Not really as it is very safe buying a property in Spain now providing you follow simply rules and emplot a good, independant lawyer, by independant I mean not connected to your agent or developer

Paperwork is everything including the Certificate of Habitation which is key to getting utility connections and often the mortgage

Don´t automatically asume that when you are told the property is ready that it actually is, and more importantly that the onsite facilities are completed

Never expect to complete on Monday and move in on Tuesday, and allow at least a couple of months between completion and using the property

Finally take your time to shop around and do your research when it comes to furniture, AC, and additional enhancements as you can save a fortune by shopping around and there are plenty of companys who will do everything for you, a cheap trip to Spain for shopping can save you thousands of euros
