Hi everyone.  Please read my friend's e-mail below about a scam on the Easyjet website. 

 

 
Just wanted to let you know about a scam going on within the EASYJET website.  Whilst I was booking a flight recently, after I had almost finished the transaction, a message came up in a pop up box to say that if I clicked on this button I would get a £10.00 voucher to use against my next flight.
 
Unfortunately this is a complete scam, when you click on this button you are taken to a website called Shoppers Discounts Rewards.  By clicking on to this button all your details passed over to this web site including all your bank details.  Then they will start to collect £8.00 per month from you bank account.
 
At this point you have no idea that they have captured your bank details because they do not ask you any questions they just welcome you to their site.
 
Fortunately for me this also happened to my manager and he told me what to do.  I had to check with my bank to find out if any money had gone out then I had to ring the website for this company and cancel my membership.  What membership?
 
Then we spoke to Easyjet about this and they were very interested indeeed.  They took all the details and from how the girl at Easyjet spoke they had no idea this was happening.  Passing your bank details to another company including your card number sounds very fishy and illegal.
 
Anyway my manager looked into this company of the net and it would appear that there are loads of lawsuits against them in the USA.  So please be careful.
 
I'm thinking of closing my bank account because I am now worried that if this company is not pucker then they still have my bank details and god knows what they might do with it.
