Hi everyone. Thanks for all your help.

We noticed at Veranda that there seems to be a communal aerial and satellite dish.

Does this give individual units UK tv if they want it or has each individual house/apartment got to have their own dish for this?

Also who is a good supplier to get a flat screen from and will they hook us up to UK TV?

Any idea about cost please?

Jo and Steve

Hi Jo and Steve,

I live on Thalassa and, if the communal aerial system and satellite dish is like ours then you will not receive any British channels, you may receive CNN (American) and a German music channel and numerous Spanish channels, do not be tempted to purchase a "digi-box" as, much to many peoples annoyance, they do not work!

There are numerous people offering satellite systems at the moment, but one of the better ones is based in the Puerto Ray shopping centre (sorry, the name and number escape me!) They have responded quickly and efficiently to call-outs and installations (no, I didn't get my system from them, but I know many who have) and, where possible, they will install the dish on the roof of your building (a word of advice....try to get them to install it on a Sunday.....it causes less problems.....trust me!)

Regarding your television, one of the best places to purchase from is Carrefour.......they have a wide range of televisions on display and in stock, and their returns policy is simpler than most, which does help if you are having any problems, their prices are highly competative and you can purchase other items whilst you are there!

The "settting-up" of your television is quite straightforward, just ensure that you have all the relevant leads should you wish to purchase a seperate DVD system or "surround sound". Samsung enclose a multi-language information book unlike other brands which do not (might be an idea to ask to see the instructions first!)

** EDITED - Please respect terms of posting **

Regards to you both,

Lorraine Braid.

Hi Steve & Jo

We bought our TV from Depau which is along the road where Consum is, just before the Bouganvilla roundabout. They were very reasonably priced, had the TV's in stock & as the owners are English, there were no communication problems.

Ferreteria Lopez in Mojacar do sell TV's & other electrical goods but I have been told that they are sometimes "seconds" & Lopez will not exchange/refund if there is a problem with the equipment.

Steve,

We bought our TV from the same shop as Noreen and agree good value and helpful English shop owners.

We are in Thalassa Phase 2 and our English Channels seem to be slightly different from Phase 1 in that we get 3 English Speaking Channels, BBC World, Sky News and CNN.

All the best

David
