Hi alI
I have been reading all the tales about Terazzas de la torre.
I was going to purchase a 2 bed apartment on TDLT when Polaris first started advertising the development. I put down a holding deposit of 3000euro after seeing the presentation and visiting the site. At this point the site hadn't had anything done at all, it was just untouched land. I was shown where everything was going to be, plots lake etc. I was also taken to Del la torre to show me the standard of build. The agent treated to a meal at the 5 star Hyatt hotel. Everybody there seemed to be enjoying themselves, It was very impressive. I wondered at the time If all these people were extras brought in to create an idylic atmosphere! My stay was only 3 days so I set about doing some checking. I discovered that Polaris were selling the properties at TDLT without any planning permission. I found out that there are different stages of planning approval, at this point Polaris didn't even have part one.
I arranged to meet with a lawyer, recommended by the agent who will be nameless, [big mistake]. At our meeting I told him that I had done some checking re the planning permission and had visited the site. The lawyer who could speak reasonable english assured me that selling off plan before planning consent had been given was normal in Spain. He also told me that other English clients had told him the TDLT site was already being measured out for development. [The developers seem to be quick workers considering I was only there that morning]! The lawyer in his conversation with me was useing the odd F word. I told him that I wasn't happy with this. He apologised remarking that in his dealing with other English clients this was a word that was frequently used. I got up and left. Everything I had found out while in Spain convinced me not to buy from Polaris. After many phone calls and e.mails I got my deposit back.
After reading all the stories on this website I know I had a lucky escape. If I hadn't done any checking or had accepted everything I was told to be true, the consequences could have been awful.
ALWAYS DO YOUR CHECKING BEFORE COMMITTING.
