Just to let anyone know who is still waiting for a refund or thinking about trying to get their money back, I have just received my money in the bank today so don't give up hope.
Polaris contacted me in Nov 07 to say they were no longer building our Phase, offering us a refund, we never heard from them again.
We chased up ourselves then got a solicitor invoved, within a few weeks he has got our money refunded.
For anyone wishing to use him his contact details are:
Jorge Robels Reyes, Abogado Col No 4595, H. Edif Alba, Murcia. Fax: 968930749 Email: jorgeroblesreyes@teleline.es, he is first rate.
I hope this is of help to someone, you really do need to be persistent to get your money back.
Regards
Alyson

Hi
Thankyou for that we have the same situation still awaiting refund since November 07.
The solicitor we are using is the same we used to buy(recomended by polaris agent)
Ringing & Emailing everyday but just get same answer.
Did you go out to see your solicitor & what did he charge.
Thanks Snil

Hi,
we didn't go and see our solicitor, we have friends living on La Torre, she works for a property rental company and recommended him.
We just emailed each other, he was in permanent contact with me and I just faxed over details for him.
He cost around £425 - money well spent.
I would drop him a line he really is good.
The worst thing about all of this is we have visted our friends and really love the place, we may buy a resale on La Torre now, we're not sure.
Regards
Alyson

Hi Snil
I bet you are relieved to get it back at last!! Did Polaris pay you or did you need to use your bank guarantees??
Polaris have still not returned our deposit following the intervention of our solicitor so she is currently in negotiation with the bank and says they should be returning our money very soon (I live in hope!!). The failure of Polaris in paying us our deposit is I think a definate sign that they are in financial difficulty. I hope they are not going to cause heartache for too many of their customers!
regards
Annie

That is quite a worrying statement that you have mentioned " The failure of Polaris in paying us our deposit is I think a definate sign that they are in financial difficulty " do you have and evidence to follow this up ?

Also contacted UK Director if you need his details email me directly.

Hi Steve,
I have been over there lately and am due to go back on the 8th August.
I really don't think you have to worry about their financial situation, they are just really crap when thinks go wrong and never get back to you which is really frustrating.
I do think the only course of action is through a solicitor but obviously not a Polaris World solicitor for obvious reasons.
I had my refund a while back and Snil had his through the same solicitor who is totally independent.
If you need any help just let me know.
Kind regards
Alyson

Thanks for the reply Alyson
I,m not that concerned about Polaris worlds financial position and i agree that they dont comunicate very well. Personal views and comments like i mentioned are worring for the people who are planning to go through with their purchace and may not have any bank guarantees yet. I,m sure they dont need to worry.
Regards
SteveI,m sure they dont need to worry

Our 50 grand deposit was returned at long last yesterday. Yippeee! It seems that Polaris were notified that the 'notorial document' prepared by our solicitor for the bank was acceptable and on hearing the news, Polaris sent an email and copy of the transfer sum to our solicitor. Wish they had bothered to do this a long time ago before we needed to spend 3 grand on a solicitor! Polaris's legal department are useless and those of you without bank guarantees should keep hassling, you are running a risk. Everyone says Polaris's customer care is crap but why put up with it?? Collectively you could change how they work!
I wish you all well with your properties on Terraza, if the site ends up looking as good as La Torre it will be a fab site, we've had our fingers burnt and don't propose to do the same again. Good luck to you all and happy times in your new homes!

Hi Annie
Sorry it hasn't worked out for you its a real shame. It's a personal issue but it has worked out well for us as we didn't want the property too soon to give us time to pay off the initial deposit. Hope you get your dream eventually

I am an agent in N I reland and also a buyer as i have booked on phase 2. i have sold about 20 properties overall and some of my clients have completed in hacienda and are loving it. however sales are now very slow in Spain and it worries me that they will not build any more properties until they have phase 1 sold out.i have been informed by Dublin office (which had 8 staff a year ago and is now closing) that they have stopped building on some parts of mar menor 2 and condada. i used to have some great contacts at polaris head office but now i have none and even the director i knew has gone. the company also got rid of all their inspection trip staff and replaced them with a more commission based salary. i was last out at end of october and was in the phase 1 showhouses which are very impressive but i think it will be at least 2-3 years before they have the resort looking habitable as they are selling nothing.also with the euro being so strong prices are too high. everywhere in Europe prices are dropping but not with polaris. in fact they are 20% more expensive due to the exchange rate. if polaris want to keep their customers they need to offer some reduction on the penthouses or i may advise my clients to pursue a refund.

I came back from La Torre last week and have to agree with Colin, it is nearly complete, they are just finishing off the hotel and it is really impressive.
I would also advise people who are waiting for properties to start pushing Polaris harder as they will very rarely contact you unless you do.
We didn't visit Terraza but I think some of Phase 1 has been released - our friends went to see the show apartment and loved it.
Hope everyone gets there properties without to much hassle.
