A letter was received in El Trampolin this morning stating:

Dear Client, the security service start work in the Residential, this service costs €100 per month.

Please make your payment this moth in Solera's Office in Valle Del Sol to Maria Del mar

Regards

Whilst I am happy to contribute someting towards the cost of the security - providing they are on the site when we need them and the site is secure (they was no one on the gate today and the back road of the site is now fully open to traffic) €100 pm does seem rather excessive.  Say 200 residents X €100 - this means one hell of a monthly wage to the security company.  Maybe I should apply for a job as a security guard!!

Any one else with any thoughts about this

A little bit more information was obtained this afternoon from talking to a couple at Happy Days who currently live on La Torre.

From what they understand, the following facts are available:

1.  Security Guards receive €6 per hour
2.  At best, they work an 8 hour shift; at worst they work a 12 hour shift
3.  If we have 2 guards per shift, we need 6 security guards available each day, and I am assuming 7 days a week.
4,  The cost for each security guard per week will be €336
5.  Per week for all guards will be €2016
6.  Over a month, we are talking about , worse case scenario, €10,000
7.  If we allow vehicle costs of €1,000 per month, which knowing the security vehicles they use is over optimistic
8.  Allow 10% additional cost for the equivalent of National Insurance etc.
9.  The total cost for the security per month is €12,100
10.There are 270 houses on Trampolin all paying €100 per month
11. Net Profit from the arrangement:       €14,900

What they have also told me is the following:

1.  La Torre charge between €130 - €350 per month for facilities depending on the size of the property.  Included in this charge are the following:

*  24 X 7 security with a fully gated community
*  Maintenance of all the water fountains and decorative features in La Torre
*  Maintenance of all the public gardens and lawned areas
*  Maintenance of the community swimming pools
*  Maintenance of individual property's lawned areas
*  Rubbish Collection
*  Street Cleaning & Lighting
*  Security Dogs on patrol throughout the night
*  24 X & Security Cameras

Given that we have public access to the commercial centre (are GT really going to stop people coming onto the site because they fancy a meal at Happy Days, wish to have their hair cut or have their laundry done!!) and we have all points of the compass access to the sight then methinks that this proposal is not exactly value for money.

Again I ask, any other comments

What next? Will we have our power/water disconnected if we don't pay?

Surely, the community should make the decisions about appointing security?

We don't mind paying towards such things (but not to be ripped off)

I think the site looks a mess at the moment. The 'green area'  infront of the commercial area looks like a tip.

What do others think?

Is this just for the people living there at the moment if so it would make more sense.
I agree about green areas they should all be finished before they start charging maintenance fees.
Our site is very small in  comparison to most but lacks boundary walls.  Are they going to build walls around the development.
