Free market for electricity - do we need to do anything?
The Comments |
Our supplier is Iberdrola and we have heard that unless we contact them (or another supplier) and sign up for a new 'free market' tariff before October 2010, we will be cut off. And the same source says that if we don't sign up, we will be charged an extra 5% in April and May and an extra 20% in June.... on the other hand, our solicitor's website says we don't need to do anything - they say you only have to register if you want to go onto the free market tariff, or if your consumption is over 10kw (factories, shops etc) and they recommend that we sit tight for the time being..... we are very confused - we don't want to be cut off!! Does anyone have the difinitive answer?

Hi Roo - I got all these mixed messages too so I phoned Iberdrola and was told that you only need to contact them if you are over 10kw - but they then offered me a choice of two deals. One was to fix the rate for a year and the other was to go onto Off-Peak - I chose the latter but it would depend on your circumstances which was better for you.
I must say they were very pleasant and helpful on the phone and you can ask for someone who speaks english if you need this.
