Hi
Several questions to ask but mainly:
1. Any recommendations for receiving British television?
2. Any recommendations for broadband usage?
3. Are there any spiritual development classes in the area?
4. Where do you go to learn Spanish?
Will come to a close before you start yarning and thank you for replying.

Hello and welcome to Eye on Spain.
I don't know the area but in terms of TV many people fit a Sky dish, or some communities already have this facility available to them. You need to check with the community you are moving to.
The main phone company in Spain is Telefonica. They offer broadband services but as the market has opened up there are other options but I don't have any experience with them.
Hope that helps and best of luck with your move.
Justin

Hi - you could try Torresat for TV, landline and internet - am not sure of the installation costs for all 3 but the monthly charge is only 40€ once installed. There are lots of other companies who advertise in the free papers but Torresat seem to be pretty reliable and have been around for a while.
As for Spanish lessons, again there will be ads in the local papers and some of the town halls do free lessons every year - these can be very popular so you need to register as soon as they anounce the dates.
Can't help with spiritual development I'm afraid!!
Welcome to the area!

Hi
best bet imo is to get a dish fitted with either a sky box of freesat box from Argos at around £35, a 90cm dish will get you around 90 channels including radio and a 1.4 dish would get you BBC1 Sky 1 ITV channel islands and C4 most of the day.
They are lots of companies installing dish's at around 330ish now for a 1.4 system but be very carefull lots of cowboys around, speak to Paul at television technology for advice hes helped me greatly.
Lots of negatives around the re broadcasters and their legal status mainly loss of signal also the average 20e charge per month, whichever way you choose UK Tv is available in Spain.
Best Regards
Graham

Rojales is a nice place..
I bought my blue top property there in 2003, built after 18 months .
good mix of people.
torresat was the company i picked for uk tv, and they installed a tiny dish and decoder, cost 20 euros a month..
Good eat as much as you like fish restaurant there, they cook the food you've chosen in front of you ...
well worth goin at 9 euros a head!
Enjoy.

I understand that there are free courses at the town hall in Ciudad Quesada, with levels to suit beginner, intermediate and advanced. The course starts in Sept & you got to enroll. That's probably what I'll do.

If you're trying to learn Spanish then you need to watch Spanish TV. If you're moving to an urbanisation/community you may even have a community ariel, all you need to buy is a TDT box or if you have a tv with DVB plug it in and set it to receive Spains transmissions.
I had a digital ariel installed last year, the signal is a bit hit and miss but then the same thing happens here in UK with Freeview. The news channels are really good and most have subtitles which help those of us who are still learning Spanish.
Some of the rebroadcasters have Spanish channels included in their channels, if you do decide to have a sat dish installed then you'll need to consider the above.
I was unable to go down the Sat. route as in my area I would need to have a 1.9 dish installed to get all UK channels. My neighbours had a small dish installed and all they got was skynews, a few movie channels and endless shopping channels. After a couple of months they had Simulsat installed who do have some Spanish channels. I'm not sure if Torresat have any Spanish channels, the new set up of including phone and internet sounds tempting butas a new service I'm waiting to see what the feedback is. Torresat doesn't have a good customer service record for it's tv service let alone phone/internet.

There are Spanish courses in Rojales too, at community centre I think. It's s little closer than Quesada, you may be able to walk over.
Which fish restaurant does this offer? I'd like to try it the next time I'm over therer
