am hoping to buy a finca in spain and live in it "off-grid" and as self sufficient as poss - think 'good life meets hippy vegan oddball' - anyroad, am really glad to have found this message-board/discussion group as i will have loads of questions along the way some of which will, no doubt, have already been given a good airing on this site. for starters i'd really like to know how one can tell if the lovely little house you have just seen on an advert on the net is 'legal' or not. ie could i live in it as it stands or would i have to apply for special permission.
that's the kind of thing i'll be asking - if anyone can point me to a page where this has already been discussed that'd be super.
ray.

Hi Ray and welcome to Eye on Spain.
To determine if a house you are interested in is legal or not you really need a good lawyer, such as Maria de Castro who often posts on the forum here.
All I would say is take your time, make sure EVERYTHING is above board and enjoy it!
Fire away with any specific questions you may have.
Justin
