hello there, not sure if anyone can help me but we have a property in la puebla de la molino and we rent it out approx 10 months a year. We were looking to install sky or freeview so that we could watch english tv . we are happy to pay a one off payment to have this installed but don't want to have to pay monthly payments as we won't be there much. does anyone have any info on this.

thanking you

michelle

If you pay for the installation, you can view the free channels with no subscription. To see what channels you will receive, just take your card out of the box at home.

Hi,

"does anyone have any info on this." - Most of this section covers what you want to know but heres what you need to know in a snippet.

Ideally you will need to install a dish. The size of dish will determine the channel you can receive. Many UK TV channels can be receive on an 80cm dish, others, like BBC1,2,3,4, ITV2,3,4 may need bigger, like 1.8 or 2.4m dish.

For example,, you can get ITV1 and Five (and maybe C4) and many other "cheap" free channels (True Movies, CBS), on a small 80cm-1m dish, with a sky box and a sky card - a non subscription card called a freesatfromsky card.

A Freesat a box does not allow the use of a Sky card, so to get ITV1, C4 and Five you will need a big dish, and even themn they may not be available all day.

There are other options, like rebroadcasters, but these need a monthly sub.

You cannot get Freeview in Spain. Freeview is a UK ONLY digital TV service received by a TV aerial. If you connect a digital terrestrial box to a TV aerial in spain you will only get Spanish digital channels. But many of these do have imported programmes where the dubbed spanish language can be changed into english.

Hope this helps

If you are going to go the FREESAT route then the Humax Foxsat HD PVR is the No1 choice.
