Thanks, Roberto.  Sent that video link on to a friend whose parents lived those days in Torremolinos.  They were delighted to see it.  Such different times.

Wow, what great links.

Loved the Malaga photos and the fantastic video of Torremolinos in 1965.  That was so interesting.

Have you got any others?  These are fascinating.

Thanks

Justin

Calahonda in 1958 if my embed works - For those who live around here can you recognize the wartime gun placements between La Cala and El Faro.

Thanks for the links which are fantastic. I love to see what things used to be like.

Here's a link to a few pictures of Benalmadena, Arroyo de la Miel and Torremolinos from around 1987 which I've been able to collect. Things have changed sooooo much!

I'm loving this thread!

That Gib video, when you see the cable car at the bottom...I grew up in the flats you can see just behind it.  (Believe it or not those used to be really sought after council flats )

Thanks for sharing.

Justin

Webs in Spain...

"Spiders
There are more than 1,700 species of spider in Spain but only three are in way harmful to us. By far, the most dangerous is the black widow ( Latrodectus tredecimguttatus ) which gives a medically-complex and painful bite though it is not fatal. They are commonest in Valencia and Andalucía, and they are a problem in the greenhouse estates of Almeria

Nice mix from 50s, 60s and 70s, including the extraordinary boy singer Joselito.

Vega Sicilia.

I have been told this is the wine they drink at the Vatican.

"Considered a national treasure in the same way as the Prado Museum in Madrid or the Sagrada Família Church in Barcelona, the Vega-Sicilia estate produces, in the outback of Old Castile, one of the world's most prestigious wines: Vega-Sicilia Único...By appointment, you can visit this estate that makes event the most renowned French chateaux pale with envy at its splendour and professionalism

A monument of Old Castile
Served at the table of King Juan Carlos ever since he came to the throne, Vega-Sicilia wines are the very embodiment of a certain idea of Spain. Uncompromising, dark and distinguished like Vélasquez portraits, these wines aged for 10 years before being sold are among the world's most civilised."
