It's bad here this morning
Constant helecoptors back and forwads to the sea getting water constant sirens, horrible smell everywhere - we can see the flames from our terrace - its like a snow storm of debris on our terrace. Is is going to be a big cleanup for many - never seen this so close to the coast !!

Still going and seems to be heading for La Mairena 2 large yellow water planes are up and have seen several helicopters with water bags too.
Seems to have started about 9pm last night near La Cala Golf - in its path in the hills behind La Cala and Riviera were many small holdings just hope they are all safe

Its still going - towards La Mairena I think
If you are underneath the ash fall - go and damp down your gardens Now - this is how is spreads - just one hot ember needed.
Our terrace is completely covered in ash

Fortunately for me - I live mid way up the urbanisation of Riviera and the fires are being blown away from me. I seem to have missed the ash fall although some fell, overnight, at the bottom of Riviera near the A7.

Does anyone know if properties at El Bosque have been damaged?

To the people that have PM'd me I can't reply just now but as far as I know no property has been damaged in La Mairena.
Fire still going - aircraft have now joined the helecopters

They are really pulling out the stops - there are now 3 of the large water planes continuously dumping water on the affected area.
Taking water from just off Calahonda and circling over Riviera before heading to the hills behind ... I would think , El Rosario and dumping before heading back to the sea for more.
The fire is heading away from me so all I can see if the charred hillsides and smoke plumes

I am currently investigating the forest fire story for the BBC in Madrid. If anyone close to the fires is willing to get in touch with me, we would very much appreciate it. Sending me a phone number via a private message would probably be the best way to get in touch.

The helicopters are back again - 3 of them with the water bags beneath
They are all working so hard - there is less smoke now but obviously a long way to go yet

They say Alcores de Calahonda and Altos de Calahonda developments have been affected!
The bottom of Calahona is covered in ash! Very scary

That does not suprise me - this morning around 8am saw huge wall of flames on the hillside that they sit on - really scary
AND they say they think the fire was started deliberately

The four water planes have just flown over me going back to Malaga Airport.
Hopefully that means the fires out and they aren't just going back to refuel.

It has just been announced that the people who were forced to evacuate their homes in Ojen and Marbella are now allowed to return so even though the fight still continues to put the fire entirely out, the situation has improved.

That is good news.
Although the smoke towards the coast seems to have abated I can still see plumes rising further inland. Large planes have disappeared - although they might need refueling but can hear the helicopters still working away.
