If this all goes ahead as planned I can see it being a logistical nightmare, what about all the people who have already booked flight/taxis/car hire ? Again Spain has suppassed itself in having no business acumen, no wonder its in the mess it's in.

Still hoping from a personal point of view this airport opens sooner rather than later.

It will be no different to when Alicante changed to the new terminal everything will just be transfered to the new airport. one big difference they are a few more kilometres apart.

But Corvera will be handier for people living in  Murcia and inland and yet still within easy reach of the Costa Calida

Hi Johnnie1,

Couple of years ago flights were changed from Murcia to Alicante with Monarch and passengers were only advised a few weeks before departing and they were stung by higher car hire costs, so don'y think it will be that simples(said Alexander the merkat).

Report from laverdad.es, regarding San Javier airport and Corvera. http://www.laverdad.es/murcia/20111006/local/region/murcia-defendera-hasta-ultimo-201110061541.html

Aena has confirmed that March 2012 is impossible for the new airport to be operational, contrary to what is said from the regional government. Great changes which must be made to Air Navigation Plans San Javier, the Airport of Alcantarilla, El Altet and Corvera. October 2012 is a more likely operational date.

It wont be that difficult but companies may take advantage of the changes to hike up prices, untill there is some competition.

Driving back from Vera to San Javier, I don't take the toll road any more. I noticed around (is it Fuente Alamo?), there is a motorway sign with Corvera on it. Never seen it before and it doesn't have the airport logo, but could it in future?

My hire car company was Solmar who have moved out ouf San Javier to a depot by the motorway. They told me that they were going to have a van in the car park and spaces had been allocated for them, but were not now doing so because of the new airport. I was told they were now just waiting for the details of when/ how to move the business to the new site, which they said was about 30km away. I asked if they thought the airport would open and was told definitely. I asked when they thought it was open and they laughed, shrugged and said who know?

The village of Corvera was around long before the airport and I live close to this village on Corvera Golf & Country club

The turning and sign has always been there, the exit is the MU601 and goes past the airport but they are building some new roads for airport access

As i said before I manage rentals for a number of people that work at the airport site, is it going to happen, yes
