Place selling wine near Aspe
The Comments |
Hello,
I know it's like looking for coal in Newcastle ..
We're staying in Urb La Marina next month. We do have an excellent Bodega there that we visit (on the left on the main road as you go south out of town). However, a few years ago, we went out to Aspe (I think it was Aspe) and we came across a place selling wine. Enormous barrels at least 10 feet in diameter that you could fill your own bottles from, plus their own stuff bottled. It was all very nice and very cheap.
Sound familiar to anyone? I'm sure there must be a few places like it, but most seem to have been smartened up, have high prices and not so good wine.
Thanks.

It might be Bodegas Cerda that you are referring to. It is in Hondon de las Nieves which is out Aspe way. It is a really nice place - well worth a visit and after the bodegas visit you can walk down into Hondon itself where there are several tapas bars. If you google Bodegas Cerda you will get the details.
enjoy.

hello,
thanks for that Tom.
I'm not sure that is the place, the one we went to was nothing like as smart as that.
However it does look very nice and I think we will give it a visit. What are the wine prices like from the barrel?
Thanks.

While we were there , some of the locals were coming in with their plastic bottles and filling up for around 1 euro a litre. You can also buy 2 litre plastic bottles while you are there. They are happy to let you taste the wines from the barrels and then you can fill up with whatever you fancy.
