Hi all, I'm sure somebody out there can answer this question for me ?
I bought a Spanish plated car two years ago and the MOT ( ITV in Spain ? ) is due for renewal at the end of December 2011.
Unlike in the UK where MOT centre's are everywhere, I have been told that there are specialist garages dedicated to supplying MOT's in Spain are sparse to say the least !
I am living in La Linea ( Opposite Gibraltar ) does anyone know where I can find the nearest test centre to me, the cost incurred
and can I get it done ' while you wait ' ?
Any help would be grateful as I don't speak very good Spanish !

The nearest one to you is:
ITV - ESTEPONA
Graham Bells (Pol. Ind. José Martín Méndez), 15
29680 , ESTEPONA , MALAGA V
TEL: 902575757
You need to call to arrange an appointment, the other option you have is finding a local English speaking garage that will take it in for you at a cost of around €60,00
Getting an appointment can be a real nightmare sometimes, you can also get one online at the following address:

Try this link for ITV locations in Andalucia. You can normally just turn up with no prior booking.

Do it yourself or find someone who has been there before - it's very straightforward.
It's different to UK becuase you stay in the car and you do what they tell you - ie press brake, pull handbrake, turn on lights/wipers etc, - most of the staff speak the basic instructions in English.
If you want to prepare yourself look up the words for lights, foot brake, hand brake, wipers, lights, wipers etc ....

I had to take mine the other day. I made an appointment but when I got there they were an hour behind! So much for having an appointment
It is best to book it as most are quite busy.
If you live in La Linea I think the Algeciras one may also be a possible location for you.
Jimbofinn, seems you got a little carried away with the reply button there
