Do I need a prescription to get this medication in Spain?
The Comments |
I take Eltroxin - for an underactive thyroid. In the UK I have to have a prescription for it but it is free. i remember once when I forgot to take it on holiday to Malta I was able to buy a pack for 65 cents from a Pharmacy there, could I do the same in Spain or would I have to see a Doctor to get a prescription written?

Most pharmacia by us on the costa blanca will give drugs without a prescription, speak to the head guy in there and explain your situation and you will probably get what you want if you can't get it over the counter.
It is better if you know the generic name of the drug, it is often cheaper than the branded version.

Levothyroxine. Depending on the type of medication, some pharmacists will only issue them with a prescription whilst others are quite happy to provide a months worth. If you have your UK prescription or even the pack of old medication you will have no problem obtaining it.

Sorry but I would have thought the easiest way to find out is to ask at a farmacia (chemist shop)
You can see a doctor free, if you have a European Health Card
