Take a lot of care

Hi Jeanssis - the responsibility lies with the driver of the vehicle. If you collect a hire car and no vests/triangles/spare bulbs then get a written undertaking from the car hire company that they will pay the fine. Cheaper for them to pay someones fine and not to put them in as they get pinched or lost.
TRicia - good luck with your adventure - I wish you every success and hope that your omove is everything you want it to be. It can be a glorious life here and it will be what you make of it - lots of frustrations but the benefits far outweigh the negatives and if you find obstacles it is worth persevering to try and get over them.

Hi all.
Well we have hired cars quite a few times over the last couple of years and to be honest i never knew anything about vests-triangles-or bulbs and all the cars we hired never had any of that stuff in them. EMPTY INSIDE AND ALSO THE BOOT.
As jeans sis said, who is going to go all the way back and then jump the queue to get it sorted. Not ME!!!
Bob.

Try telling that to Old William - actually the Local Police and even some of the Nationals probably not too bad and you might get away with it - but if you get the Guardia they will probably have you spreadeagled across the car in a half Nelson.
Incidentally while I think of it dont ever touch a policeman unless it is to shake him by the hand - not even a hand on the arm. They take it very seriously - a woman down here was arrested about six month ago after officers were addressing her extremely drunk partner. She simply put a hand on the policemans arm (local) - not in a violent way - and one of the officers had her arm behind her back and the other a gun pointed at her. Personally I have no objection and I have seen some of the behaviour they have to put up with - particularly from Brits on a binge - and generally they are extremely patient (more so than British police) however if they are what they consider to be physically assaulted they will take action first and ask questions later.
