the other day i took my son and 3 friends for his 11th birthday treat to see the latest harry potter film. Best one yet i thought, bit darker, bit more grown up than previous.
Two films that still choke me up every time i see them are the french films 'Jean de florrete' and the follow up 'Manon de source' (sorry if my spellings carp!), very emotional, well acted, great plot and very sad music running through, just brilliant. For me, they capture something american films seldom come close to, though some UK films come closer.
Probably my all time favourite though is 'Schindlers List'. I think everything about it just brilliant as a serious film. The factual aspect of it gives it something very special for me.
As for comedy, i think 'The full monty' and 'East is East' takes some beating.
