A quick message to hobby
I see you are in Estepona, we had an apartment just up the coast toward San Pedro at Hacienda Beach about 25 years ago, just wondered if the old place was still there.
We had it for 12 years and sold for 2,000,000 Pesetas, about £10k then.
Understand that's the new "golden mile" wonder what I'd get for it now

Hi Ricardo
Sorry for delay in replying to your question, have been too busy to visit EOS recently! We have seen Hacienda Beach on our travels but never really stopped to look. There was some derelict looking buildings along that stretch including a hotel - some connection with 'princess hotels' I think. We are a lot further along near the Selwo Adventure park, where there is a lot of new developments being built and becoming the 'place to buy' at the moment from the various media coverage we've seen - just hope it doesnt became another puerto banus! Our apt cost 350+ euros four years ago, but couldnt comment on what yours would have fetched now, sorry, do you have regrets now selling up when you did?
regards
Jackie

Hi Jackie
no probs about delay, lovely to hear from you.
Regrets..............definitely....................my wife reminds me constantly.
The reason we sold was because we emigrated to New Zealand when I was a child and father stayed there.
He eventually died and we wanted to visit his funeral and couldn't afford it at that time.
We were also a little bored with flying into Malaga, down the OLD n340 and visiting the same old bars, restaurants and golf clubs.
We wanted to see the world so sold the apto and travelled around the world about a dozen times staying at exotic places etc etc.
So.....................we did all that then said, lets buy another place is Spain as we aren't getting any younger :-)
Came down to Estepona, nearly bought in Manilva, then went up north and saw what we could get for same sort of dosh, so here we are in Daya Nueva.
So.....................that's our story.
What and where is Selwo Park?
Hasta pronto Ricardo

Hi Ricardo
Selwo Adventura is an animal safari park and has a sister Sealife marina in Benalmadena (which was rather disappointing to be honest). The safari park on the other hand is good and anyone in the area should visit. It has good facilities and the park is enormous, you need at least 5-6 hours to get round, probably longer really, we went there to kill time before dropping our son off at the airport, bit silly when it is right on our doorstep and we could have visited at anytime, will definately be going back again. It is off of the N340 between San Pedro + Estepona and quite well signposted if ever youre in the area again.
Depending when you last visited you probably wouldnt recognise this part of the CDS, as you rightly said before, it is becoming the new golden mile with a great deal of new development going on both inland and on the coast, I just hope it doesnt become too commercialised, that was one of the reasons we bought where we did because the marbella/puerto banus area didnt appeal to us - we call it posers park- for obvious reasons!! (my apologies to anyone out there that has a place there - dont mean to offend, just our opinion).
Hope you are enjoying your time in Daya Nueva - no regrets buying there I hope!
Kind regards
Jackie

Hi Jackie
Thanks for the reply, we used to call it the poseurs place as well :-)
Quite interesting, whilst we were on the coast when we went out to eat, even for menu del dia, we used to dress up.
Nowadays it is a much more laid back affair, we love Daya Nueva, we bought because we wanted to be in a Spanish village with real people, much like Estepona was but smaller.
So...................no regrets at all, we just hope the deveolpment doesn't take over and we land up like certain parts of Orihuela Costa.
Ref Selwo park, just before we left the CDS, a local restauranteur opened a sort of kiddies park less than a kilometre from us on the 340 , it would be near the Rio Padron as I remember. If you go back MANY years when that part of the coast was still undeveloped there was a famous restaurant called the Libro Amarillo run by a couple of gay guys, really good.
Aaaaah memories, 250 pesetas to the pound, a former labour government who limited us to £250 per year to take out of the country, can you remember that !!!!!

Good luck with your search, anywhere is cheaper than costa del sol but nowhere else is as good hence why its expensive.
Why have cotten when you can have silk....?????????
