As long as both phones have been authorised for international roaming I would imagine that you should just be able to dial direct with no additional codes, you would have to use the code 0044 and leave off the first 0 dialing from Spain, it may not be in that format if you are calling direct from your contact list.

If that dosn't work, does the person in Turkey have a land line number available ie hotel etc - you could call it, international dialing code for Turkey is 0090

Why would you use 0044-that's Britain's code-surely you only use Turkey's?

No, I don't think so Camposol.

If you are calling a British mobile anywhere you would use 0044 - your call would then roam to the correct handset

Thats not going to work is it!!

The OP has already told us she is trying to contact a UK VODAFONE number that is in Turkey

So if you use the Turkey code 0090 you will be dialing a Turkey number the next two digits will be interpreted us the district in Turkey.

Trace5 I think so should stick with me on this one.

No Problem Baz

Trace5 - If you have been unable to call it's highly likely that you have a roaming problem, a lot of companies will insist that you have at least a £30 balance on your phone before they will authorise it for international calls.

Tracy5,

You need to know what sim card is in the phone in Turkey.

If it is a British mobile number, irrespective where the phone is, you need to dial up that number (0044).

However, if they have changed the sim card and now they have inserted one with a Turkish number, you need to find out what that phone number is, and add the Turkish prefix.

I hope this helps.

However, be careful, because both of you (if you both have a British number and both are abroad (Spain and Turkey)), will be charged a lot for making this phone call.

Tracy5 has already told us that the phone she wants to call in Turkey is with Vodafone UK (she doesn't say if this is PAYG or contract altought she is PAYG)

Inserting any new sim card to a phone locked to Vodafone UK wouldn't work anyway without the phone being unlocked (unlikely)

That's right Team GB, but what I was trying to say is that she has to call the UK number, with the UK prefix, and not the Turkish prefix.

If the phone is locked, yes you are also right that it will not take the sim card from another network.
