Hi there

I am about to make an offer on an 11 month rent in Javea and wondered if anyone local was familiar with the Montañar II area of Javea?

It's a new building and I think the balcony faces S/W and the Montgo mountain.

Would I be getting sun on the balcony?  I am third up, in a building of 4 levels.  I think it's a 15 min walk to Arenal beach and I'd need to drive to the supermarket.

The agent says that the hot function on the air con is broken and so the landlord will accept a 50 euro reduction in monthly rent to compensate and that we can buy a heater if we need and that we probably won't need it anyway.

Will this be ok?  Will I get sun from the glass patio doors to help with a bit of heat in winter?

Any advice would be great, thanks so much in advance.

Also - we would like to negotiate that they put in wi-fi for us beforehand as we both have computer jobs, based from home, and it's essential we have the internet from the first day.  Do you think this would be possible to negotiate?

As I understand it, the other options is setting up a Spanish bank and taking out a contract and it could take up to a month.  It's not practical for either of us to be sitting in cafes for the types of jobs that we do, even for a day, let alone a month.

Best wishes

Hi Carrie, I know Javier and Denia, having spent many vacations there - nice part of Spain. Not familiar with with the block you're talking about though - when we went we always stayed at La Sella resort.

Personally, I would ask the owner to fix the aircon units. These places get pretty cold in the winter and if you're working from home all day, you'll need to be comfortable. You can buy portable oil heaters etc, but I guess they are more exepensive to run than a decent inverter aircon unit. We use one in the winter in Murcia and it's pretty effective and you may also have an open fire or woodburner which is cheap to run, if a little messy.

My expereince of Broadband is that it can take some time to get installed and make sure you have a good package that allows you uninterrupted service and decent jiuce to power your p.c.'s for work.

Good luck and enjoy.

Regards, Carl

Well, I might be wrong, but I thought from the Arenal the Montgo is North West. Have a look on Google maps.
