New Software for Mag 250 box ??
The Comments |
Hi Everybody just wondering if anybody can help I have 2 Mag 250 boxes which I purchased from a company supplying internet and UK iptv. We have had a falling out basicly my internet kept dropping out so I had no tv or internet and they were only open normal office hours and not at weekends , so after lots arguements and several weekends with no tv we have parted our ways.
Now my question is, is it possible to wipe clean these Mag250 boxes and load them up with XMBC
To be honest I do not want to go down the route of hide my ass etc as our internet connection speed is not great about 7.50 Meg and I need to run 2 boxes one in our villa and the other in next door our rental villa
Anybody got any thoughts or Ideas I would be very gratefull

Even if it is (which I doubt), why would you want it? It's an awful piece of software that's ony really suitable for those who are absolutely determined to get premium TV for free, and doesn't offer anything remotely like the clear and easy to use EPG that you're used to with a MAG250. Your best option is to contact some of the many IPTV subscription service providers and ask if they offer their service for existing equipment - some won't, they want to sell you a box as well as the service, but some do. Check the ads and try them.

As sat & pc guy mentions, you cannot put XBMC on the mag. Also the quality of the TV streams are generally of a lower standard than the subscription based providers (or at least those who offer a decent service) & as also mentioned below the XBMC software is different to the Mag 250 software which is far simpler to use & generally much more robust.
Standard practice for most companies is to sell you a new box with new service. We can reflash existing boxes remotely to different service providers, without replacing boxes - so a few options still available, though are still subscription based.
