Hi Morerosado,
Glad you had a nice time in Spain.
We too have a car with Auriga Crown, but from Alicante airport.
Do you know what the situation is for full/full there?
We take it back on 12th and I don't want to fill it up only to find I can't get the petrol money back!
Regards

I used Auriga last year (June I think) and I was told at desk that I had to bring it back empty. I'd hired the car for two weeks but I still took it back with 1/4 tank of petrol. It was very chaotic in the garage when I returned it and I was annoyed to find that if I had bought the car back with a full tank I would have been refunded the original amount I'd paid.
Don't know if that helps you to decide, perhaps someone has used Alicante more recently than me and can add to this discussion.
I've just returned and for this trip and the one at the beginning of December I was given Record by Doyouspain. They have now changed their policy and give you a car with a full tank. You can either pay in advance or still bring it back full. I never seem to have the same make of car twice, earlier I had a Seat Leon and this time we had a Hyundai Getz. The former cost 20e for a quarter tank and the later 20e for half tank, I prefer doing it this way as you pay for the fuel you have used.

Hi Semijubilada
We used Auriga 13th December 2007 from Alicante, we returned the car full, and they refunded the total cost, no problem.
We have used Auriga on many occasions, and always had good service from them.

Thanks for that, Fibby you can now fill up the tank and get a refund. Just allow extra time for checking in as it can take a long time to return the car.
Aren't these forums useful for passing on gems of information.

We used Auriga Crown at Alicante in November 2007. (Booked through www.doyouspain.com & I think who you book it through may have a bearing on the decision to allow you the full/full arrangement we all crave for).
At Auriga's desk (Alicante), taped to the counter, was a notice saying you have to bring car back empty if over 3 days hire. We had it on our contract with doyouspain that we brought car back with whatever we picked it up with (8 days hire) which was a quarter tank & we were not charged anything for fuel & it was checked when dropped off.
Lady at Murcia told us it was "by law" they HAD to refund IF you filled up. This should mean any car hire firm for any period then, surely ?
We were driving a Ford Fiesta 1.4 & we filled up outside Guardamar the day before we had to drive to Auriga Crown at Santiago De Ribera, outside airport at Murcia. We always top up just before handing car back but this time we saw guage was on full (rather than where it was when we filled up which was slightly over) so we opted not to bother. Great feeling. ![](/userfiles/content-moved-to-https/FCKeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/wink_smile.gif)

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I think I will take the chance, fill it up and see what happens.
More,
I did book via DoYouSpain for this hire, 1st time though, but the cheapest of the lot!
Will let you all know if I get my cash back................
Bye for now,

Update:
Yes we did get our petrol deposit back.
But, it did say full/full on our paperwork anyway.
As it worked out, we spent more than a full tank on fuel anyway...............but on a shorter visit, booking via DoyouSpain would be the way forward.
Regards,

After my previous post, I have since booked a car through Auriga Crown from Malaga airport, the details stated tank full on collection to be paid for, and empty on return.
Sometimes we do not do that much travelling around and there is a chance that the tank could still be 1/2 full, I will not be impressed if I do not get a refund.
But at christmas and new year I had a car from Auriga Crown at Gibraltar airport which upon collection I was told it was just over 1/2 full, and could I return it the same, which I did and no fuel charge was made, so it could be possible different collection points could have different rules, we shall see .

Rab said "it could be possible different collection points could have different rules"
Rab, I'm CERTAIN of it !! Seems it's sometimes also which agent you go through as a large agent such as www.doyouspain.com could well have unique arrangements with the car hire firm. That was our feeling at Alicante anyway.

We have just returned from a 3 day trip to Malaga where we had a car booked with Auriga Crown via CarJet. The staff were excellent and when we asked to upgrade the car, they gave us a brand new Chrysler Voyager with 14km on the clock for a very reasonable fee on a full to full basis. The return staff were also friendly despite me not being able to refill the car due to a jammed filler cap. They could not shift it either, so they said it was their fault and would not take payment for the diesel that I had used. I will definitely use them again.
PS. Malaga airport is a bit of a nightmare at present, but should be really good when finished if only they can lower the prices in the bars, cafes and shops. It must be one of the worlds most expensive airports. It makes Heathrow look cheap !!!

How weird is that?! jmtwsm
We too had a brand new car with Auriga Crown, but from Alicante.
Same thing 15km on the clock, but could we fill it easily!
Nope..........the petrol pump kept clicking off as if the tank was full, which I knew it wasn't.
The only way I could fill it was to have the nossle half way in the filler cap and only squeeze the trigger half way.
When it was full, it overflowed!
Must have bought the same fleet of new vehicles me reckons!

First and last time I used Auriga thro Carjet at Alicante in May 2007
Queued for one and three quarter hours, thus missed a crucial appointment. Carjet would not apologise or offer any incentive to use them again.
Cheap...I know why!.
Pay another fiver and use Centauro!

AurigaCrown is a scam. You have to be very careful or you will pay for what they want. Defects in wheels..
I had to pay 160€ for a defect in a wheel. It's incredible!!
For a defect in a tire they sya that they have to change all de wheel. jajaja
Be careful, please.
