Excuse me if I am wrong, but when people make posts asking for advice, whilst some questions are very specific from people who clearly understand everything about the subject except for the item they are asking about, others may have relatively little knowledge about the subject and would like to know more. There will also be those who read the thread who would like to understand the wider implications.
In those circumstances it would seem (the point of EOS in fact) that to expand the answers to give a wider appreciation of the subject can be useful .
An Example. A new buyer might ask about say, 'looking to get solar panel for hot water' or 'who should pay IBI'. To include info about other taxes which will have to be paid, making direct debits, asking the OP for more details etc. may be helpful, albeit posters are answering questions not asked, possibly because the original poster does not know what other taxes and implications may exist and so does not know what to ask in order to be fully informed.
