Undercoat for white gloss
The Comments |
Hi,
I have some doors which are currently a varnished mahogany veneer and want to paint them with white gloss. Getting the gloss is not a problem but I cannot find any undercoat in Aki or Leroy Merlin, I have gone through their websites using Google translate with no luck.
can anyone help please and let me know what the Spanish name is for the undercoat? Again I have used all of the Google suggestions but nothing comes up.
thanks

Hi, hope this helps you out.... (English) White undercoat....(Spanish) Imprimacion blanca.
I have bought this in Leroy Merlin, couldn't find it so ask, turns out it wasnt in the paint section, also had much the same with something else, no where near where you would have thought it would be.

Hi. Just take advice about needing to prime surfaces that are varnished, I’m pretty sure resin or other varnishes won’t be a good surface for a water based undercoat.

Thanks baz1946, very helpful I have now found it on the Aki site and know what to look for the next time I am in Spain.
hi briando55, I have rubbed down the wood and used some thinners to take off the varnish, so a water based should be fine, however I think I will use some oil based undercoat if I can find it.
thanks both for your help.
