Might there be a conflict of interest here Johnzx in so much as by Police stats identifying there is  a prevelance of crime in a specific area, doesn't this then act as potential disincentive to rent or purchase in that area which affects that region's economy?

Is there therefore little " incentive" to encourage those affected by crime to report the facts, or make the reporting process transparent and relatively straight forward?

'Sorry to continue on the off thread road'  !

Ads.   What I said reflects what happens, not ‘massaged’ stats.   The police do not refuse to take reports,  for any reason.

In fact if they had any interest  in encouraging tourism, property purchase etc. they might be a bit more friendly to the few victims who do report and to those who just call in for advice, not to mention the National Polce's recent crowd control methods in Barcelona !

Incidentially:   When I worked with the Guardia I found they were a lot more friendly and helpful.

Depends what the crimes are also Ads.

If there are two murders. or two complete house burglaries with menace in a four hour period and the population is small,  or if John just does uneventful hours etc.

If he mentions the area he is talking about and expands it to a 12 month period with some facts to back it up. instead of 4 hours and no idea where it is, it may be more useful to eithr agree or challenge.

What was it that lead you off thread?

Many places have lots of crime that is not reported for many reasons from graffiti to drug abuse

Should we have a new topic on crime in spain rather than moving from the one man battle to promote camposol

We did look around quesada but decided it was not for us but if we had to choose between camposol and quesada it would be a no brainer quesada would win everytime and it would not be down to crime stats or the number of expats it simply looked and felt a lot nicer, cleaner, better facilities etc etc

Dazzyj ..I am not trying to promote Camposol in any of my post ...but I will defend the place against people like you and Mariedave that are  running the it down when you know Bugger all about place.l can assure you that Camposol has exactly  the same Brits that you have in your area or do you know something that i don't  ... people like yourself have made a personal choice on where you want to live ..I don't have a problem with that .. only people like yourself do ..I really don't understand why people like yourself come on hear when you have made the move to Spain and then spend the rest of your life running down the UK...and try to convince  others that the place in Spain they have chosen to live in is a shit hole ...and they should have bought by you ...well correct me if I am wrong but if all the shit people that live on Camposol move into your area wouldn't that make your utopia a shit hole as well....this is the last you will hear of me on this subject ...but what I will say before I go is start opening your Trucking eyes and you will come to to same conclusion as me... that Brits that reside in Spain are all the same wherever they have chosen to live...I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Xmas and a Happy new year.

Windtalker

You are doing a pretty good job promoting it

We all have our views and opinions just as you do

The fact remains the place may not deserve the bad reputation it has but guess what it does have a bad reputation just like many other areas around the world and your one man defence is not working and won' change the minds of many

Why would anyone recommend camposol with all of its problems an reputation.

Sad people have been ripped off but there are many many more who have not encountered problems when buying in spain so tarring all of spain with the camposol problems is wrong of you and sounds simply like sour grapes

Think Johnnz, the residents of Camposol should be very grateful to Windtalker for discovering the warning from the UK foreign office to avoid  mariedav's town of Quesada.

Not only does this urb have more problems than most, but being barely 60 miles south, via an empty  toll road, last thing they need is  another "Tony from the pub" and his gang come a pillaging.

Actually believe we should cut Windtalker and his " mates" some slack now.....because.....

My sending a link re CRA highlighting the problem on the urb would be improved  IF residents helped one another instead of having a " I'm alright Jack " attitude was totally beyond their comprehension and I was not only accused of abuse but told to " put up or shut up" .

So now " putting it up" again...  as the mods thought this was a polite and acceptable response......🙄🙄

Also must admit am perplexed as to why anyone, after openly boasting to have just spent more than £30k on a kitchen in UK, would prefer to live in a  " slum in the sun"

That has got to be the BESTEST joke ever.

Merry Christmas folks 🍾🍾🍾

Be interesting to see if the mods think this post is more offensive than the one sent to me.....

Its OK Flo.

Johnzx has it all covered , only 2 crimes every four hours and they seem to be low level.

Thank you for your support, floella. We have just been to collect our turkey from the deli and took the foreign office advice and went by armoured car with a couple of tanks as escorts. We studiously avoided the criminal gangs breaking in to the houses using hand grenades to get the shutters off on our way up there. On arrival at the shop, we had to wait until the steel shutters were raised and the dozen or so locks and bolts were undone. Of course, we had to hand the money through a little window before they handed the turkey over.

On the way back, we thought a couple of armed gangs were about to hijack us for our precious cargo but it turned out to be a special forces platoon who were happy to give us an escort back for a handful of Quetzales (Guatemalan money is the only recognised currency in this lawless area).

Christmas dinner will be the aforesaid turkey along with a handful of paludrine tablets (malaria here is quite rife).

You could, of course, help a little more by donating to the "help Quesada residents" appeal. Text "Quesada" to 510076 to donate 1 million US dollars to enable the swathes of pensioners to move somewhere nicer and safer, like Camposol. On the other hand, just send a hundred euros as we believe there are several properties going there for that price.

Thank you for your support and excuse the edgy posting, those mortars coming over the wall in our gated prison community jangles the nerves a little bit. Still, makes choosing the Christmas presents easy as camouflage jackets come in all shapes and sizes at our local Chinese shop (once you get through the security doors, of course).

LOL....tongue in cheek posts like this should be the norm..not...the rarity.

Are you telling me mariedav, your property isn't surrounded by 7' walls !!!!...I reckon you could be asking for trouble.

Unable to donate to your preferred fund as am saving up to help the Smiths who had the audacity to stand up for what they thought right.....shame on them.

Not all rosy where I live...yesterday there was an explosion in a nearby market. Not a bomb, fortunately, just that no-one realised welding near a gas bottled heater wasn't advisable.😫

Perhaps we can all learn from these postings that it would help if residents ( on any complex for that matter) could be supportive of one another, but in that process not be over defensive or afraid to recognise problem areas.

If all had the courage and willingness to strive for greater transparency, to retain open minds in order to comprehend the problem areas that have left all too many feeling vulnerable, and seek out workable effective solutions with GENUINE intent to improve the status quo for ALL, then it would lead to a less confrontational mix.

Not a bad new year's resolution perhaps? 😉

Here's wishing you all the best for the New Year but also hoping that justice prevails in the upcoming year(s) for those who have been so badly compromised by the status quo.

My apologies mods. Have just seen the offending, and unnecessary, post has been deleted. Many thanks.

Oops.

I looked to find the right online place for a donation to 'help Quesada'.

But I was redirected to 'Al-Qaeda'

now I’ve got Donald trump sending me tweets all Christmas.    Thanks for nothing!!

Ciudad Quesada …..has Brit and Irish bar's that i am sure will point you in the right direction for donations ...the quickest way to find these bars is as ask any one on the street as they all speak English due to having a extremely large population of Brits and Irish approximately 16,000 of them live in this area of Spain .

Kavanagh ...I asked the question (do you know the answer )...as this seems to be the norm in all the so called purpose built areas of the Costa's ....you can drive around so called resorts and all you see is pulled down shutters and not a sole on the site.

Quite a few soles on site here. A trout or two regardless of which plaice you visit. I find these posts a bit fishy but I'm not sure I'm herring you correctly.

But going back to the auctions which is what this thread is all about, I'll just leave this here:

Problems at Camposol

Having read this ( from the article in 2016)

______________________

The visit of the Murcia deputies takes place a few days after a representation of the more than 5,000 residents of Camposol took their complaints to the Regional Assembly .

In this regard, the Socialist Parliamentary Group will propose in the Regional Assembly that the Autonomous Community withdraws the powers in matters of urban planning to the municipality of Mazarrón in relation to the Camposol urbanization , "because it has demonstrated its inability to solve the urban problem of the zone ", as indicated by the socialist deputy Alfonso Martínez Baños.

In this sense, the PSOE requires that the regional administration assume this responsibility and that the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS) solve the problems of homeowners who are in the channel or margins of the Rambla de Los Aznares, agreeing the compensation that correspond or any other formula to solve it.

For her part, María Giménez , deputy of Podemos , described as "sad and bleak" the image that many neighbors endure every day, while pointing out that "it is intolerable" that the administrations involved have disappeared. «Where is the Confederation before this environmental catastrophe. This visit makes us ashamed of everything that has had to do with Camposol ».

__________________

I have to ask the question is it not time to put aside political and personal wranglings and for the sake of the innocents ( pawns) caught up in this nightmare to strive together to gain solutions, whether this be compensation where due, but also to recognise the need to call for a full review to establish trusted regulatory structures to be put in place from the outset of purchase, to prevent a repeat of what can only be described as uncivilised and unstructured  chaos ? Chaos born sadly from a system of loopholes.

Surely lessons need to be learned here? But to hide behind  personal bickerings does no-one any favours in the longer term?

Reform and review of the conveyancing system appears essential with a view to eradicating loopholes from the outset of purchase, that do such harm on a much wider scale than many are prepared to admit.

Can someone remind us of the dates and times of the auctions, it’s been lost in the drift of the thread perhaps.

its going to be very upsetting to see the failures of both legal and political organisations in Spain, manifest themselves in this action against people.

for that’s what it is, it’s an action of greed, power, authority and money against people.
