Despite BREXIT and the UK supposedly now having complete sovereignty, immigration and related state benefits seem to remain a shambles. The public appears to be baffled by it all and have therefore mainly given up or lost interest. The whole subject appears a no-go area for all politicians, they either sweep it under the carpet or kick the can down the road for the next lot to deal with.
Is the EU still pulling our strings?

Is the EU still pulling our strings?......Well if they ain't it sure a hell feels that way sometimes, i think it's more like perhaps a suggestion from them to our bunch and then our lot twist it about to suit needs....Of course I am very wrong as always.

When the Labour Party's.. Gordon Brown was asked back in the day if his party was going to demand changes to the freedom of movement from the EU ..as Romania and Bulgaria had been approved for membership of the EU .. Gordon Brown replied by saying that we have no need to worry as Romanians and Bulgarian people could not afford the air fair to the UK ...this foot in the mouth statement is freely available for you to read on the net...John Major was also asked why he did not exclude EU citizens from claiming the Dole in the UK ...and he said at the time of signing the Freedom of movement treaty that EU citizens would not want to come to the UK in significant numbers ...so no need to worry... about the UK DHSS being abused...the UK population got to vote on joining the EU and was told at the time it was for trade only ...the UK population did not get to vote on the freedom of movement treaty... John Major screwed the British public at a EU dinner party...

Bottom line.. EU define and declare the rules and timings re dates associated with lifting restrictions of movements, etc but the EU mandarins ( Commisioners) have sadly been insufficiently flexible over the years to recognise the ensuing problems, not only with differing member states ( this is not just the UK), but also have turned blind eyes to how their intransigence has resulted in impacting cohesion and tolerance across member states and have proliferated unnecessary division ( and if not careful the rise of political extremes) in that process.
What is needed is calm rational open minds to seek MUTUALLY acceptable solutions with a willingness to remain flexible to deal effectively and in a timely manner with any ensuing problems, as opposed to constant divisive political rhetoric and intransigent federal mantra, which does little but alienate and further divide.
We all deserve better.
