Thanks everyone. I know our problems pale into insignificance compared to some of the horror stories I have read, but it is quite stressful nonetheless. Only 4 sleeps now .

Why is nothing in Spain easy????
We were supposed to complete at 11.00am this morning (Spain time). We had heard nothing by 12.30 so text the solicitor. We were then told the completion had been cancelled today as the funds we sent to our bank's gestoria hadn't arrived in time although they were there!! We sent the money by bank transfer last Friday, how long can it take for god's sake? Our solicitor told us that it has been re- arranged for Monday morning. In the meantime, our mortgage agent has telephoned to say that the Gestoria doesn't have the funds and that completion can't take place. What the blinking flip is going on??? Poor old Dave Baxter wasn't told either by our solicitor, so he was hanging around the notary like a lemon until someone told him it wasn't going to happen.
Of course, everything shuts early in Spain on a Friday, so we now have to wait until Monday to be sure if the money is there or not and if it is not, where it is. Plus, the possibility of penalties now. I am really, really cheesed off now. I thought all the bad stuff was behind us now.
Mark
On the plus side, we must have electricity as Endessa debited our account with €50.60 today. what for? B+ggered if I know .

Our biggest concern is where our €40,000 is?? The bank say that the money has been successfully transferred and deposited, the building society say it has not arrived . Trying to get them to look and see if it is in their suspense account is like asking for a kidney!! Recalling the payment is an option I suppose, but that costs as much as it did to send!
I am really starting to get to hate some aspects of the system .

Hi Mark, sorry to be the 'gloom' person, but we transfered about 3000€ from England to Spain a few weeks ago ( we've done this loads of times and it usually takes 3 days ) and it took 11 days............turned out the English bank had not actually transfered it tho they said they had. Also once our money got stuck in Madrid clearing bank for a few days.............yours will be there somewhere...........tranquilla!!!

Hi Karen
But our transfer was from Barclays Spain to Deutsche Bank Spain. The money never left the country. 48 hours max for a national transfer they said. (huff/ puff)

Join the club, Mark. Whyever should it be a doddle for you ? (Only joking, just you're not the only one who had hassles BUT it shouldn't happen, all the same.) You'll get there, most of us did. Just keep on taking the pills. Bit big to get down but you need a lorra chilling.

Even worse, they didn't have to do a thing!! I did all the hard work putting the bank account details into the internet payment site and I pressed the button and was charge €60 for the priviledge!! The computer did the rest.
Yes, I did check all the details were correct before pressing send and I have been looking at the account numbers all afternoon too
