Selling property /final taxes

We are in the process of selling our Spanish property and I understand there is a 3% retention made to cover any unpaid taxes. I'm just wondering whether to complete our Renta tax return to 31/12/2021 as usual or if your lawyer does it as part of the conveyancing or if the tax office calculate and deduct payment from retention.
Any advice appreciated.
