We have just returned from Murcia, having flown with Ryanair for the first time (usually use Jet2 from Leeds) We went from East Midlands & checked in on line. It cost £110.72 including debit card charges (£2pp each way) for the 2 of us. A very good price we thought for May. It was a bit of a rush boarding as there appeared to be more than one line for priority boarding, but no real problem. On board the second 2 rows had their trays down to stop people using them. A rather large woman was then helped into one of these seats & a member of staff helped her with her oversized suitcase. He removed my small case to make room for hers & put mine further down (which I thought was rather rude) The woman told him to be careful as the case was rather heavy, as he lifted it he agreed. Maybe she had a health problem but it did seem unfair on those who abide by the rules. Other than that, it was a positive experience, both flights arrived early & staff were very pleasant. I had been dreading the experience but I should have listened to More; she is quite right, Ryanair is fine, you get what you pay for & we were quite satisfied. It does not always do to listen to (or read) & believe everything bad that you hear. The idea is to listen & make your own mind up. We go out again next month with Jet2 & I am still waiting to hear from them about additional taxes & change of luggage allowance. we may well be using Ryanair again. Happy holidays everyone. E

Aw shucks, E !! (Thanks for that)  True though, many have very good experiences. (I read about these regularly).

Don't think More can't have a good old moan as I certainly can, main ones being why don't Easyjet turn the air up more (only sometimes I can't feel it enough) whilst we're waiting to take off when I'm too hot, & who sits in exit rows.  Why did they allow a very feeble elderly lady to have a seat by the window by the central emercency exit, when it was plainly obvious she'd never be able to operate that door ?  She appeared to be travelling with her daughter & her husband & they must've been in their late 60's so she must've been mid 80's. (I heard them call her "mum" & they were doing lots for her, like opening her G&T for her ). Easyjet staff stand by these seats as passengers are getting on for the purpose of vetting who sits in these seats then allowed that. The young woman (Easyjet) stood at the side of the three of them telling them they must be happy to operate the door in case of emergency too, farcical or what ? We were sat opposite side of the aisle & the old lady slept mostly. I commented to my other half about not being able to get out of that door because of the stupidity of Easyjet staff & he just said "I'm getting out of this door !!" Just a thought though, if our door was not available to be used because plane was on its side, I rest my case............

Another trip we saw a young boy who was probably 14 or so seated there with his parents, he was by the window. I wasn't happy about that either.

If I see people like this in future in emergency seats we could've had I'll kick up though that upsets me for the flight so I'll more likely do as I usually do, fume quietly to OH. (Poor guy ) More's rant over, positive thoughts !!!

We usually drive to our place near Los Altos but we need to take some more stuff down to the house so my wife and 2 daughters will be flying.

Usually we go from Luton or Birmingham as we live in Milton Keynes and fly to Alicante or Murcia. While we were looking for flights going out around the 26th/27/28th/29th July for our friends who live up in Cumbria we noticed that from Liverpool to Madrid on the 26th July the cost was 29.97 for the wife and 2 daughters including all taxes and as they are taking hand luggage no cost for baggage. Taking into account the drive up to Liverpool and back and the hire car from madrid for 6 days to be returned to Murcia Airport the savings amounted to 300 which covers the cost of me driving down

That sounds like a good deal Conrad. Just goes to show that it pays to shop around!
