Hi June
We are completing on a Euromarina apartment in Puerto Marina, phase 2 (Los Alcazares). We are going over for Easter and intend to troll the stores and make a decision then. My husband is a wheelchair user so we can't do the Ikea thing and self assemble that is why I think a complete pack might be the way to go. As we will only have the school holiday week there we don't have a lot of time either! Let me know if you here of anything else locally!

Hi
We have bought in Santiago de la Ribera and DFS is just down the road. Didn't get a chance to visit when we were over but intending to when we go back. We spent a lot of time in Los Alcazares so know our way about now. There was a new furniture shop just opened near the Halifax by Euromarina on the main road, will try and visit when we are over. We have had our air con/heating, lighting and shower cubicle fitted by Ilucom in Torre Pacheco near Polaris as we rented there over Christmas because our apartment wasn't ready. They are so helpful and friendly with regular e mails and phone calls with progress. Meubles direct is next door so have ordered beds and sofas from them. Will be doing the trip to Ikea and the massive shopping mall Neuva Condiminia across the road when we come over next. Has anyone got any other tips? Also the Dos Mares is close to us and has a great choice of supermarkets and "B & Q" type store.

Not sure how far it is from where you are but Almoradi is the "furniture town" for the Alicate/Murica region. Great choice and reasonable prices - but stay clear of La Muebleria - they rip you off!!!

Hi Kathleen, we have a place in El Mojon next to San Pedro del Pinatar. We didn't buy a package but went to the local furniture shops. If you have transport to get to the shops, there are loads to choose from in the towns and villages alongside the Mar Menor. All of the shops couldn't be more helpful. When buying lighting they not only deliver but install. Furniture like wall units are fixed to the wall, washing machines fully tested etc. A different world to here, we just didn't expect it to be so easy. One note of caution, we did find that there are loads of english shops appearing, to meet the evergrowing demand. Their marketing is more eye catching and noticable, but once inside the shop, they're more expensive that the spanish shops. we stuck to the spanish shops - we're in Spain ! it was much more fun and service fantastic. Good luck. Jane.

Hi Jane
Thanks for the advice - it looks like I will have a plenty of choice when we get there! I have been speaking to someone we are renting from in April and she has pointed out several shops locally as well. I am so pleased I have found this forum - it has given us so many ideas and great advice! My husband thinks I'm addicted to the laptop now!!!
Thanks again - Kathleen

Hi All
We bought a furniture package from Imperial in the La Canada shopping Mall above Marbella on the main A7. We got a good discount on the furniture because we bought as a package and was able to chop and change it around to suit our taste. They even fit all the lights and curtains for you. Its all inserted in one day and saves a you a load of time. Theve got some really nice stuff there and are very helpfull and have both English and Spanish people working there.
The guy to speak to there is Sean or Chris and if you mention you want the package deal you'll get about 20% off the marked up prices. Sean's number is 0034 647 584 900
I'd get the TV & DVD from one of the big electrical stores though as you get a better set for the same money. You just tell them to chop the bits you dont want out of the package and they do it.

Hi Ian
We used Imperial (our post about 2-3 pages ago!) and agree theyre very good but leave out the DVD at least, our TVs great but the DVD player was a load of c***p, ended up putting it on the top shelf of the wardrobe and using the X-box we bought to watch DVDs instead! Cant fault the service and Chris was very accommodating when it came to sorting out a few problems we had.

Hi,
We are about to close on our apartment in phase 2 of El Soto de Marbella, and are currently using Imperial to furnish the place, I have found them excellent to deal with
We have left out the TV/DVD as recommended, but would be grateful if anyone can point me in the direction of electrical shops with website , so I can get something on order.
Thanks
Amanda

Hi
We used Garcia & found them quite helpful with lots to choose from. We had no problem when we ordered everything & found the date we had been given for completion, as many of you have found, was way off the mark. We ordered last Easter & had it delivered two weeks ago!! They also fitted most of the lights. Hopefully they will still be in working order when we go at Easter. (joking)
We did look at DFS, found them very good but the showroom had only just opened so not much choice, but we still need some items & may well go to DFS for them as its closer to us.
I love reading all these messages, I have picked up quite a few good & helpful tips, thanks everyone.

Does anyone know of second hand furniture supplies near Estepona. My experience from furnishing property in the UK is that you normally can get very good quality second had furniture from charity shops. This way you save money and help a charity in the process. Given the amount of buying and selling of property on the Costa Del Sol I would think there should be good qulity second hand furniture available.

Here's a link to a used furniture store. I knew I'd seen it on one of my lists!! Don't know anything about it, though.

A little further away is Multi Auctions on the N340 in La Cala de Mijas, near the BP petrol station. They sell second hand furniture, art and also stuff from show homes and bankrupt stock. Some furniture is still in its plastic wrapping. I've not been myself yet (actually trying to get rid of surplus furniture - see classifieds!) but I'm told it's brilliant, with some top quality items and bargains to be had. Auctions are on Mondays, viewings at 10am, sale starts at 6pm. Their phone number is 637 431 006.

Janice,
Thanks for replying. I am buying a property in Formentera not too far from Torrevieja. I have been to Carrefour but not to any of the shops you have mentioned so it will be good to visit these shops when i go out at Easter. Can you tell me where they are (or which one you think is the best) and are the prices any different to Carrefour? I have white goods and a basic furniture package but there is still a lot i need to get.
Thanks for your help
Regards SUE

Hi Janice,
Heard a lot of good reports about Garcia. Looking at the site can see why. Good prices. Is there one nearer to us, and from where we are is carrefor between us and Torrevieja or past Torrevieja? Could you give directions from the San pedro roundabout with the boat on it, I'm sure you know where I am talking about.
Thanks Gina
